My son and I (fishing novices) stopped by Pier 61 on a Saturday evening around 7.00 to try our luck and didn't end up leaving until midnight! We caught a lot of little (8-10in) fish - mostly catfish and croaker that all went back in the water - and had a blast! The staff rented us a rod and showed... More

It is nice, everything you need to fish is there. The staff is knowledgeable about fishing which is helpful for first timers.

The staff was really friendly and you can tell that they enjoy their job. We were there on a Wednesday night and I have never been to a pier that was so overly packed with people. There were children crying and running, tripping over stuff. There was almost a fight over surf rods only being at the far right of... More

We hadnt been back in a while, but we stopped by this weekend. There was some seaweed, but everyone was catching tons of fish! We caught mostly smaller stuff, but we saw several big sharks and big redfish come in. We had such a good time! We will be back soon! Clean bathrooms, super helpful staff, great view, cold beer.

They have snacks, assorted beverages, rods rent of $8.00. Shrimp is $6 per pound, squid is $5.50. Use the squid, the croakers will suck all of your shrimp off of the hook.

This place was really fun. They will provide the rods for you and help with any questions that you have. The only thing I did not like about it was that our lines kept getting stuck. They will fix it 3 times and then after that will charge you, which is understandable. But I have to admit we are not... More

You would not think fishing this close to the beach would be any good, but it was awesome. I have been coming here since I was a kid and not much has changed. Good place to night fish. Restaurants are close by and the campground down the road is nice clean place to camp. Have Fun!! MG

This has to be the nastiest place on Galveston beach. Shame on the city officials for not keeping this section of beach clean of rotting seaweed, as they have done others further west. This is terrible. It smells like some one threw up.
