My family and I went to 61st Street Fishing Pier around 11:00AM on Monday, July 28th. We rented 3 fishing poles and used shrimp as bait. My son caught the first fish within 10 minutes time and then my 10 year old daughter caught a 21 1/2 inch bonnet head shark. We also caught catfish, trout, and redfish. We caught... More

I took my family fishing here and had a great time. One of the employees, James Sessions, was very friendly and helpful. He helped us when we had questions on fishing and we watched him help several other people as well. He helped one fisherman when he was reeling in a big shark.

I enjoyed going to the pier caught some small fish which is perfect for just fishing for the fun of it. The restrooms were clean and stocked. James was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely go back a lot. Way cool place.

Even if you've only have one day to do some fishing in Galveston this is the place to go. Everyone there was very helpful especially Tito. Plenty of room to fish without being on top of someone else and a great veiw.i can't promise your going to catch your weight in fish (this why it's called fishing not catching) but... More

We had a great time. Thanks to all the staff (especially Tito) and fishermen for the help. I (a mom) took my two boys to fish by myself. I felt safe, supported and empowered to be able to have a secure, supportive environment to provide them a great ocean fishing experience.

We went on Friday afternoon and had a great time! I completely disagree with some of the comments written here- the staff was very friendly, including Tito. The lady that checked us in was so nice and helpful. There was plenty of space for us to fish and all the people out there were well behaved and courteous. Our family... More

Make sure you take cash as that's the only form of payment they accept. We had a group of about a dozen people go out on a Thursday night and we had a good experience. Tito was very friendly and gave us all a quick tutorial on baiting the hook. I think every one in our group caught at least... More

We enjoyed the pier very much, and the staff was helpful in getting is set up to fish. It is something we plan on doing again. That Tito is something else and brings humor to the pier.

Took the kids to the 61st St Pier. The kids enjoyed it and everyone seems to catch fish. They do set you up with everything you need to fish. The only downside, which I was unaware at the time, they only accept cash, so bring a bit if you have several kids. 80 dollars deposit, 70 dollars for rods/tackle and... More
