Not the greatest beach in the world to be sure (on Galveston Island, the better beaches are to the west in the state park), but strolling along the Seawall can still be a pleasant little promenade overlooking the Gulf.

You can tell by the 8 foot mounds of seaweed piled up by the wall that the city works hard to clear the beaches every day for the enjoyment of the guests. The beach was well maintained as well as the seawall and it's beach entrances.

This is the main part of the beach at Galveston, so it is the most crowded. You can find all sorts of tourist activities here, but if you want an uncrowded beach to further west on the island.

I can only rate this as average because like everyone else states the seaweed is horrible. No, it isn't Galveston's seawall's fault but you cannot enjoy it. The seaweed is piled extremely high and is everywhere. But the smell is what is horrible.....smells like boiled rotten eggs. Don't even try to get in the ocean.....it is like swimming in spinach.... I love the smell of the beach without having to walk on the sand! It is a great place to just go for a stroll and shop.

There was an above average amount of seaweed on the beach and it stank. The island tried to keep it pushed off the beach front but with the amount rolling in it was difficult.

It was a nice enjoyable drive along the seawall. You pass many interesting things. The only negative is the seaweed on the majority of the beaches. You can't really blame that on Galveston at all. It's the gulfs way of cleansing itself. Walking or driving the seawall is something you should do if visiting the island.

The seaweed onslaught this summer is awful and it seems nothing much is being done about it in the seawall area. I know it is very difficult to get equipment in there to scoop it out, but it is getting piled SO high and the smell is awful. When your big moneymaker is tourism and the beach...

We walked along the seawall with the grand-kids, they had fun, but it seems like the road is so close to the beach. Most other beaches that ive been to are much bigger. We still had a good time.
