Plenty of fresh air, a boardwalk to enjoy a walk or bike ride and several restaurants/bars to chose from...raning from gritty to dressy.

They are going to start charging for parking but please still come. Grill, splash, walk the beach and have fun on your Texas beach. If you live in Texas you own this beach, live on it and love it!

I enjoyed walking and driving up and down the seawall. The ones who were riding bikes or skateboarding were courteous to the walkers. Driving up and down Seawall Drive was enjoyable, too. The views were great of the Gulft and the Fort and other sights along the way. The seawall was clean and very nice.

I've been coming here since I was a child in the 1960s, and perhaps because of that the seawall has a special romance. They built it in 1902-07 after the Great Storm that pretty much took out the island. If you last visited during the 1980s oil spill era, no worries - we saw no sign of any tar balls,... More

Seawall was nice. Water looked pretty clear. Saw effort to keep beach and seawall area clean and tidy. Loved just walking along the Gulf of Mexico. Rumors abound that parking may COST along the seawall soon. That would be a shame.

We went to Stewart Beach the first day. It was the cleanest and nicest. Porretto (also a private beach) was 2nd, not as clean as Stewart... the public beaches were ok, but they don't clean them.

Kiddos, towels, shovels & buckets in hand.... we had a great day on the Beach. It was the Saturday of "Opening Day of Summer" - Memorial Day Weekend.... the beach was crowded, but not bad. The Beach was clean & there were lifguards watching over us all. Great day at the beach!

Every time I go to Galveston and the Seawall it is packed with cars in traffic and the parking is limited unless you want to pay a fortune. To go eat it is at least an hour wait. Now they want to charge to park every where like they do on the Strand. There really isn't much to see or... More
