We were in Galveston for a conference and had a couple of hours of free time. We chose to walk along the water to get a little taste of the beach. I'm from New England and have been to Galveston previously so my expectations were consistent with this experience. There are more beautiful beaches in the world to be sure... More

Went off the strand in the morning to let the kids play in sand, we had a picnic and ran freely. Was clean off stewart beach..

The Seawall provides a beautiful view of the Gulf, and it is a great place to just walk around, people watch, and have an enjoyable afternoon. It is a very pleasant place to spend some time, and one that does not cost a lot of money.

Waves were a little rough but nothing we can do about that. The scenery was perfect for pictures. We got some good shots of the sunset-very romantic! I don't swim but I did get my feet wet. Had much fun!

February Mardi Gras was as good as all the others. Excellent food, souvenirs, and housing. Enjoyed trip very much. The beach was amazing, quiet, and lots of shells.

If, like us, you are there mainly to walk, breathe and experience the sea, the brown water won't be much of an issue. Winter weekdays were uncrowded, and there are lots of places right across the street to grab a meal or drink.

The Seawall was so nice. It was SO refreshing to be on the beach and actually SEE the beach and not a line of hotels and buildings blocking the view of the water. It really makes Galveston feel like a city on the Gulf, not just another tourist trap. The whole area is well kept and nicely maintained. Definitely something... More

We took Tommy Moose from the far East and Northeast to the west to see the sea. Enjoy. We did. Traffic was not a problem. I believe they may even coordinate the stop/go lights a bit.
