This is our second trip back here and it was fun. Brought two of our grandsons down to spend a week at the Beach. Seagrass was a pain in the @$$ but you get used to it. Plenty to do and see. Make sure you go to the Pleasure Pier and Murdochs.

We enjoyed walking the seawall. The beach in front of our hotel was over run with seaweed, and the sand was mucky, we quit beach walking when I sank to my knee. Then we discovered the beach around 8th street is great. We didn't pay for parking along the seawall, there are no stall numbers like around the strand.

Tacky looking. First time I was in Galveston and drove down to the sea wall I thought how ugly. I had been in the historic area and the contrast between the two was vast. This looks like a very typical touristy attraction. Having said that, it would appeal to your teenage and early twenty group. Having to cross a VERY... More

Love to walk the Seawall early in the morning or in the evening. Enjoy the shops and sites. Start at Pleasure Pier and head North. Watch out for the cycles! Great fun!

One of the great things about Galveston are the free things, like people watching on the seawall. Just be careful when parking.

How can you have a wall like this with no railings, no curbing, it was weird and nasty due to the seaweed.

We had a great time at the beach but it is a dirty beach-- lots of seaweed, smelly, and very muddy. However, we had fun anyway-- found crabs at night; hermit crabs in the day in the water; fish jumping out of the water all the time-- would not recommend the public beach as it was packed with hundreds of... The Seawall is the Main Street of Galveston Hotels and many restaurants. A must do is to cruise the Seawall from end to end in both directions to really experience Galveston. Recently the city added pay parking by cellphone on both sides of the street. A lot of close parking in the neighboring residential areas is restricted to residents with... More
