Break walking beach

I was in Galveston for a long needed R&R. I'm a walker so the beach was perfect. I was able to walk 6 miles without trouble. I highly recommend this walk for anybody who's active

Quad cycles are rentable and you can tandem bike downt he sidewalks and along the beaches. Depending on the day and on the weather.

Don't pay the fees to go and see the ocean (seawall area) from a restaurant's pier, If you look al little further down you can go to a few spots and see it for free... Lesson learned!

The Seawall runs along the ocean for several miles in Galveston. Across the road are a variety of condo developments, stores, and eating places. The beach is minimal, with parking at the top of the wall for most of its extent. At one point there is an amusement park on the ocean side but, at least on a rainy day... More

Beach was dirty with trash and not particularly inviting. It didn't help that it was cloudy and chilly to boot.

If you are looking for a different kind of beach, this is it. While it has a good mix of young and old, family and friends, it is not your hard body kind of beach. Lots of everyday, hard working people just wanting to take in the beach. It is not the perfectly tanned people hanging out.

The Seawall area of Galveston is a very typical beach front area with lots of open-air bars, t-shirt and souvenir shops, old motels. Most of the businesses seem to be kept up. Some of the restaurants are very good.

Our family enjoyed their early morning jogs along the wall. Great to see the fishermen out. Nothing to dislike here. The monuments tell the history.

If you go in March just be aware that a lot of the tourist attractions are still closed during the week, but some open on the weekends. You can rent bicycles (actually quadcrcles) for 2 or 4 people and pedal your way down the seawall. Almost every other shop has them for rent, $10/hr for the 2 seater, and $20/hr... More
