Discover Frank Buck Zoo for a one of a kind family experience. Located in 85-acre tree filled Leonard Park which offers picnic tables, two covered pavilions, a sprawling community playground, Leonard Park Aquatic Center (seasonal), and miniature train ride (seasonal). An ideal value priced day trip destination for families and youth organizations. Admission is just $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 1-12 yrs. Discounted admission available for school groups. Located right in the heart of Gainesville, Texas, the Frank Buck Zoo has been serving the children, schools and citizens of North Central Texas and Southern Oklahoma for over 50 years. Over 75,000 guests visit the Frank Buck Zoo annually. In March of 2008 the Frank Buck Zoo became home to the World's Only Frank Buck Exhibit when Frank's daughter Barbara Buck befriended the zoo staff and donated items that belonged to her father. Resulting in a fascinating collection of camp tools used to capture animals and media memorabilia from the 1930, 1940, & 1950's. Be sure to plan your zoo arrival in time to experience the 10:30am daily public giraffe feeding. Experience a "giraffe's eye-view" of the African Savannah exhibit from an elevated walkway, the exhibit is home to eight different species of animals. Pause to take in the view at the African Outpost overlooking the water hole. Be sure to have quarters on hand so little ones can feed the friendly goats.

Boyfriend and I drove here from Thatcherville. It was only about 30 minutes away, $6.50 to get in plus the money we spent to feed the giraffe. Once you pay, you can get in all day. They have quite a few animals: bears, zebras, goats, wild cats, and surprise for me - A TWO TOED SLOTH!

Traveling up or down I35 between Dallas and OKC can be tiring. Stopping in Gainesville, Texas for a little while can really help. We decided to take a look at the Frank Buck Zoo, what a treat. It's a small zoo built in a circle, easy for old folks like us to walk in an hour or so. Their best... More

This is a very small zoo but was quite surprisingly good once we got over the small enclosures for the Brown and Black bears. Being native Ft Worthers and knowing how big the Bear enclosures are at our local zoo we had to surmise there must be a particular reason for such small enclosures. Being so close to the animals... This is the perfect place to spend the day with younger kids. We took our grandsons, age 2 and 4 and had so much fun. They loved the petting zoo and feeding the goats. The visiting dinosaurs was also a big treat!!

Great place to take the children or grandkids. They love the train. Then you can spend time at the playground right next door.

Nice stop along busy I-35 north of Dallas Fort Worth. Very scenic zoo with shady park and small water park adjoining the zoo. Friendly and helpful staff.

We went here based on reviews. For the size of the town this is a pretty good zoo, but as far as zoos go in general, it isn't that great. It didn't take us long to navigate it, and we felt as if the entry fee per time spent there wasn't really worth it. You can tell by the limited... More

Frank Buck Zoo used to be a run down, sad collection of cages on the creek in Ganesville, but the renovation has worked miracles. The habitats are larger and no longer just a collection of cages. The animals seem more content and less neurotic - especially now that Gerry II has been moves to an elephant sanctuary in Tenn. where... More

This is a gem of a zoo. We have visited several zoos this year (Denver, Portland and Seattle). While this is much smaller, the Frank Buck Zoo is a must visit small zoo. A small, diverse collection of animals in beautifully landscaped grounds reflect the love and attention that the zoo keepers have for the animals.

Very nice zoo. Not too large, perfect for easy walking. Lots of shade tree's . The giraffe feedings are a lot of fun. You can get a close up look at most of the animal's. Not to expensive either.
