Of the four wineries/vineyards we visited in Texas hill country, this one was our least favorite (as far as their wines were concerned). The facility itself was quite nice, but we were looking for the most interesting and "exciting" wines. We found their product to be acceptable, but their wines just didn't have the pleasure we find in our favorite... More

I love this winery. The wine is great and the scenery is beautiful. I have been here a few times with my husband and we always have a great time. The staff is friendly and fun as well. You can see the guineas and roosters roaming around and they have beautiful dogs on the property. I love sitting on the... More

Wine tasting on 290 trek to Fredericksburg. Interesting techniques to cultivate and maintain the property, including roaming pea hens to control insects. Like it! Now to the wine. The 2014 Texas High Plains Rose' was crisp, and concluded with a nice tickle of flavor. I also liked the 2014 Temp-Texas High Plains Tempranillo Blend. It was not too heavy. They... More

We stopped in on a Friday afternoon - they were not busy at all and service was prompt by the two young men working - very welcoming. This is a much smaller establishment compared to the others in the area which is not necessarily a bad thing. Currently they offer 5 wines on the tasting menu - two whites and... More

My friend and I were winery hopping and decided to pull over into Hilmy Cellars. Great choice! Their wine tasting was superb, but what made this place our favorite along the strip was their lovely and passionate staff. They went above and beyond to make sure we understood the different wines in their wine tasting offering and to make sure... More

Several locals and even other wineries suggested we stop here. We were not disappointed. Many of the grapes are grown in Texas. The reds are complex and bold, and definitely worth a try. We bought several bottles before we left.

I'm not a wine snob nor expert, but do enjoy going to this place. Far smaller than many of the more established places, they have solid wines. The wine club is a good deal and doesn't cost anything to join, and you get free wine tastings and discounts on the wine. We usually drive up from Austin on a nice... More

Interesting facility and presentation. Small selection available for tasting and 3 of the 4 wines available were from grapes/juices brought in from elsewhere, although we were led to believe that eventually this will change to in house products. The wines were pleasant but not outstanding, but we did buy a bottle.

Not the best wines nor value for what you pay for tastings. Food wasn't great either. There are better wines at Grape creek and becker vineyards.

The Hilmy winery is the best winery on the wine road in Texas. The owner is very nice and approachable, with fine wines and two large dogs that make you feel at home. The wines are unique and very good and reasonably priced. the ground are beautiful with many animals and a rustic feel. This winery is a must for... More
