Main Street in Fredericksburg is worth the drive up from San Antonio or over from Austin. The German heritage of the town remains evident but is largely overwhelmed by the cornucopia of commercialism that engulfs boat sides of Main. From the quaint 5 and Dime, to the local winery outlets, to the eclectic restaurants and bars, and many specialty shops... More

Loved the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Everything closed at 5 pm, limiting our shopping time after a day of hillside trekking.

Lots of great local merchants with unique gift choices and some local artisans as well as stores that offer better prices on high end items at better prices than in the cities. Go see Robert at Headquarter Hats - I bought my first Stetson and got some boots lower than in the city. I also found some keepsakes and had... More

My wife and I came back in October. We loved walking Main street while she checked out the shops. Here you can take your beer out of the establishment and walk with it. We love hitting the Fredericksburg Brewpub so she can get a Porter and me the Black Cat IPA to go. Although we usually have to sit and... More

First time to take my wife to the Christmas Light Parade with friends. We had a great time the city park looks fantastic lots of vendors. It was a big weekend of shopping and food. Check your calenders for next year and put that on your must see list for the family. The kids had more fun than the grown-ups

Strolling along the Main Street in Fredericksburg during December feels almost magical. The quaint shops are filled with patrons and beautiful decorations. I'm not much of a shopper but absolutely love spending a day browsing the shops there and enjoying the festive atmosphere and friendly shop owners.

This is old time America like it should always be. Tractors lit up with Christmas lights, hordes of people of all ages, floats from all the local businesses. It starts around 6:30 pm dark so the lights really show up good on the floats.

You can spend hours and hours shopping or browsing. Shops for everything you can think of from dog supplies to high class antiques. Great way to spend an afternoon just walking and window shopping. Plenty of restaurants within a block or two.

A variety of shops, restaurants, and wine tasting abound on this delightful main street. Check out the old time 5 & 10 store , toys, lotions, high end clothing, bedding, jewelry, hunting gear.....you name it, they've got it. rustlin rob's is a favorite because its a whole store full of tastings from peanut butter, to jelly, to salsa, to some... Lots of cool shops, restaurants and spirits all in the old downtown buildings. Very laid back small town. Exactly what I needed for a relaxing weekend. Plan to wear comfortable shoes cause there's a lot of places along Main Street to go to.
