Wonderful unpretentious wine makers. The ranchers reserve, gsm, and Merlot are great wines. Smooth finishes not overly complex.

During a recent visit to some area wineries near Fredericksburg, we decided to give Rancho Ponte a try. Honestly, it was a pretty underwhelming experience. Yes, we have our favorites in the area, those places offer great wine and friendly service in a comfortable setting. Neither my husband nor I felt like this place met any of those requirements. The... More

If you haven't stopped into Rancho Ponte - what are you waiting for?! This is smaller winery in comparison to others in the area but they have a good selection of both reds/whites and they offer two ports. A wine tasting includes 6 pours of your choice. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and many days the two owners, Roberto... More

Rancho Ponte Vineyards, set among the various wineries on Wine Road 290, is a newer establishment. This year the vines are only 2 years old, hence they pull grapes from all over, even California. Rachel and Roberto Ponte are the owners. Rachel is a chef (yummm!) and Roberto comes from a long family history of wine makers, being a 5th... More

Rancho Ponte is in our 'top two' of all the wineries we visited in this area. The wine was great (not overly sweet like many wineries) and the service was excellent. We purchased several bottles; and unlike many -- although we 'shared' a tasting to keep from over-indulging -- the tasting pours were generous. We highly recommend placing Rancho Ponte... More

This was last winery we stopped by so were not overly impressed. They were not busy, maybe because they are located just off the main Hwy. 290 drag where all the other wineries are. The lady that waited on us advised we needed to purchase tasting to try the chili that was part of an event that day. She was... More

We tried 4 wineries this day and this was our first one. The wine is ok, too sweet for us, if you like sweet wine this might be the one for you. They were very friendly but not too informative, it was just ok, not our favorite. If you decide to try this winery, try the peach sangria, that along... More

Very nice Texas winery, they have an excellent tasting room and are not pushy, but they are very friendly and will engage you about the wines and tell their story very well. An enjoyable stop on the wine trail

My husband and I went to tastings at 4 wineries yesterday, and this was our favorite stop. We enjoyed all of what we tasted, and our service was fantastic. Good wine and good conversation! We are so glad our driver for the afternoon mentioned it to us, or we wouldn't have known to make it one of our stops.

We enjoyed the tasting, except for the dis-interested server. He did not have much to say, and kept accessing the computer or his hand held devise. Another staff member came in from outside, and chatted with guy #1 for a few minutes about things business related. Guy #2 then turned to us and engaged us in a wonderful conversation regarding...
