A nice pair of shoes and comfortable wear and you are set to conquer the rock.. The path can be very steep at times...but the view from top is just amazing...

Took a day trip with the kids out to Enchanted Rock. Would definitely recommend an early morning visit on a hot Texas day. We arrived shortly after the park opened and were out by high noon. The staff were great and had us in and out in a jiffy to begin our climb. Although it may seem like not much... More

What a wonderful way to spend the day outside surrounded by natural beauty and family! Tickets in are $7 a person unless you have a state park pass. The park is beautiful and the hike up offers beautiful scenery :)! Enjoy!!

Went early. Packing must haves: Water, camera, comfy shoes and sunscreen (hat/sunglasses also). "Other side of the rock" tour started at 10 with Scott and Beth. There were about 10 of us in the group and none of us had time constraints. Tour took about 2 hours and was very informative. Started in the parking lot and branched off from... More

Visited here from Fredericksburg on a rainy and cool July morning. Never having been there before we drove around a bit before parking at the base if the "rock". It's really an amazing sight to see this mass of slick looking rock growing out if the valley floor. We climbed up to the top and enjoyed the views all around.... More

The facilities were immaculate. The rock is higher to climb than I thought but very doable. Not nearly as scary as I thought also. We really loved it. All but my 1 year old climbed it. But she and mamma did go quite a ways up. If you are into yoga or meditation, definitely a place to spend an hour... More

This is quite a hiking challenge. Inclines, in places, of nearly 45 degrees to the top (1/2 mile). Then, there's a loop around the rock that's right at four miles. For hiking to the top, definitely wear tennis shoes for the incline; however for the loop (which is mostly crushed rock), you almost need hiking boots (unless you don't mind... More

We climbed Enchanted Rock again and it is still as awesome as it was the first time. I first starting taking my kids more than 30 years ago and they are grown now and my husband and I still love going back to see the amazing sight from the top! We look forward to taking our new daughter in law... More

We hiked to the top and back a medium pace with a 4 year old and a 7 year old. It is definitely doable if you have good shoes, water, sun protection and are in OK shape. Round trip, it took us about an hour, but did not feel like an hour.

A natural wonder well worth the effort to see it and perhaps camp near this beautiful site. It would be very hot in the summer but spectacular viewing in the Fall.
