Bring on the cattle, leave the BBQ!

We took our grandchildren to the Fort Worth Stockyards Cattle Drive. Shows are twice daily at 11:30 and 4:00 and free. Worth the time, but only gives you a taste of a true cattle drive. Show last maybe 15 minutes, 4-5 cowboys on horses, maybe 20 Longhorns but you definitely get the idea. A treat for the kiddos, but very... More

We enjoyed getting to see the Longhorns at the cattle drive, which occurs twice daily in Fort Worth. There were not as many cows as I thought, and it only lasted a couple minutes, but it was neat to see, and the Cowboys and cowgirl came back later and let my two year old niece pet the horses. There were... More

Beautiful longhorn cattle walking right if front of you...great for kids or even adults like us! Parking is only 5.00 ALL DAY, so it is worth it. Arrive before 11:30, park and wait for the cattle, then head right into the visitors center-your walking tour starts at noon. :)

If you're in the Stockyards (which you should visit if you're in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, definitely time your visit to see the Herd. It's a bit cheesy, but super fun. Where else would you be able to see longhorns walk down the middle of town?

My husband and I spent the weekend in the Stockyards and enjoyed the cattle drive! It is a brief look back into the history of the cattle drives. A must see if in the area!

I'd heard a lot about this on previous trips to the Metroplex. It was worth seeing the 15 or 20 longhorns go down a couple blocks since we were there for other things. But really glad we didn't make a special trip for this!

This is a twice daily free show Fort Worth puts on. The cattle of Longhorns are walked down the main road being guided by a few cowboys riding their horses. OK if you are there but personally speaking wouldn't make a special trip.
