We visited the Fort Worth Stock Yards as part of a 12 hour stop over in Dallas. We had heard about the Forth Worth Herd and wanted to check it out for ourselves. It was great watching the cowboys and cowgirls herd the cattle down the main street, but we thought it was even better to go to the cattle... More

This is a great event. Definitely worth a see if you're in the Stockyards area. If not, it's literally about ten minutes, so you'll have to make the decision based on what else you do at the Stockyards. I recommend the Cowtown Maze! Get there 10-15 minutes early to get a spot right on the curb. :)

We enjoyed the time we spent in the district walking, shopping, visiting the catwalk over the herd and watching them walk down the street. Very nice set of steers. Children would really love it.

You wouldn't expect a stampeding herd of longhorns down a spectator lined street but I did expect a bit more spectacle than at most a dozen cattle who could almost certainly make this twice daily amble without the need for cow hands!

If you've never seen a longhorn this is a must see. However, the herd is small. The Stockyards in Ft Worth is a living history museum to a Texas way of life. Spend a 1/2 day here and soak up the ambience.

We took our grandchildren to the Fort Worth Stockyards Cattle Drive. Shows are twice daily at 11:30 and 4:00 and free. Worth the time, but only gives you a taste of a true cattle drive. Show last maybe 15 minutes, 4-5 cowboys on horses, maybe 20 Longhorns but you definitely get the idea. A treat for the kiddos, but very... More

We enjoyed getting to see the Longhorns at the cattle drive, which occurs twice daily in Fort Worth. There were not as many cows as I thought, and it only lasted a couple minutes, but it was neat to see, and the Cowboys and cowgirl came back later and let my two year old niece pet the horses. There were... More
