Not to far away from the heart of the DFW metroplex, there is this perfect little gem of a nature sanctuary. Great place to do some hiking and spend some time outdoors. All manner of trails from easy, flat walks to more up & down hikes. Highly recommend this place!

A cloudy cold February morning was made delightful on a 2 hour free hike led by volunteer naturalist at the FW nature preserve. Troy Mullins was encyclopedic in his knowledge of fossils, lichen, grasses, flora and fauna, found on this hike. Members of our nature center at home in Cincinnatei, we enjoyed the morning, learning all about your property. We... More

The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is one of the largest city owned nature centers in the United States. It has 20 miles of hiking trails and wildlife. If you plan to visit, you should check out their website to find out what trails are closed and depending on the season, what wildlife you will see. We visited in... More

I have been there 3 or 4 times ... More often when it was free... They have a nice visitors center but to see much there you have to walk some distance... My legs are bad.. The Trinity river runs through the center and they have alligators in the river....

Dear Sir - thank you for taking time to contact us and to write a review. We have some exciting news - reconstruction of our Marsh Boardwalk is about to begin and in a few months it will be easier for less mobile folks to enjoy this beautiful area of our urban wilderness again with just a short walk. I... More

We were camping in area and thought this would be a good place on a sunny day. AAA tour book said you'll see bison, deer, prairie dogs birds, etc. We asked the girl and she said sure....drive thru and walk and we paid $6.00. We drove out, stopped at visitor center and clerk said "Oh the bison are on the... More

Dear TNtwin, I'm truly sorry that we didn't provide you with an excellent experience. We should have informed you at the entry gate that the bison are in their winter pasture and are not on exhibit at the present time. Other wildlife sightings are by chance since everything else is free to move around the refuge at will. If you... More

We visited Fort Worth Nature Center mainly for the many miles of hiking trails available, but were pleasantly surprised by all the wildlife we saw! On our 5 mile hike we were able to see prairie dogs, deer, alligators, an armadillo and tons of birds. Just an all around great nature park.

I was pleasantly surprised with our visit. We arrived at the center 930ish and were going to go for a little hike. She was tired so we planned on short hike. Charlotte was talking and leading a group so we merged in. Slow pace and great information. She has a wonderful way of describing disoveries as we walked. This was... More
