My husband and I took our kayaks out for a paddle through this park. You would never know you're in a huge metroplex as it seems you are in the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful. We didn't see any alligators but have heard of people spotting them here. There's a herd of buffalo in the park, lots of birds, and... More

I have lived in Fort Worth all my life (40+ years) and am so grateful to have the FW Nature Center and Refuge. It is a remarkably pristine area only minutes from downtown Fort Worth. As a Biologist I revel in the knowledge that here lies some of the only remaining, virgin stands of Post Oak woodland in North Texas.... More

I mirror all the good things said about this place, but for people who are trying learn from these reviews, they are all too general. Not many details about things they see, like which bird species or particular animals or plants or a time of day or season of year to see something particular. I would encourage the reviewers to... This is one of the neatest places in Fort Worth. You can watch the buffalo roam and go out on the marsh to view the birds and other wildlife. A great place to take kids!

If you need a break from concrete, traffic, and the noise of the city, get yourself to the FW Nature Center just northwest of downtown. Great hiking trails, bison, oaks trees, caprock and limestone cliffs, wildflowers, Prairie a Dog Town - you can even canoe the West Fork of the Trinity River. Pack a lunch, bring a water bottle or... I like this center in the spring when all the butterflies and wildflowers are out. Great for a hike with young kids.

A hidden retreat from the business of the city. We highly recommend the Saturday morning (10am-noon) nature hikes, led by extremely knowledgable staff. Being able to see the bison herd up close was an added bonus. Be sure to have plenty of water, insect repellant and map from nature center (some trail markings can be confusing).

I'm a hobby photographer & I love to visit this location for its beauty. There is an amazing amount to see and do. I could wander endlessly. I love to find a quiet spot and just listen sometimes. Watch out for the gators! 😊 No, seriously.

There are many great trails for hiking. We enjoyed watching the buffalo and the prairie dogs. There is a cool boardwalk that allows hikers to explore the wetland area. The nature center is nice and the staff is friendly.
