I never knew how old Dallas was until I saw some of the gravestones here. It is an amazing place in very modern, very urban Dallas. Glad Dallas was able to keep something of it's roots.

Don't be discouraged about going to see this place - it is actually remarkably easy to get to and the neighborhood isn't that bad. Sure, it's not a place I'd probably be spending hours and hours, and definitely not a place I'd be spending anytime after dark, but in broad daylight - especially if you're with others - it's fine....

I read about what a terrible neighborhood this cemetery is in,When in fact it is like much of our decaying Urban settings. The old folks get older and the younger one move on. I grew up in the area called Oak Cliff, I visited the dives and trails of the out law thru the "Cliff" and West Dallas haunts seen...

My daughter is a history buff and currently is reading everything she can get on Bonnie & Clyde. We came upon Western Heights Cemetary and circled the block several times trying to get a plan together. I had already researched and determined where the markers were so that part was somewht taken care of. The small entrance road to the...

While visiting Dallas, I specifically wanted to see the final resting place of Clyde Barrow. The number 50 bus from downtown which runs past the cemetery. I did not find the neighbourhood particularly worrying - there are worse parts of Dallas. The cemetery was not as big as I expected and it appeared well maintained. I was hugely disappointed to...

All previous comments on this cemetery are accurate. I can't stress enough about the neighborhood being very "scary"; parking is almost non existent and the gates were up and locked when I had gone there a couple of years ago. ( I drove a long way and made my way through a tear in the fence)
I recommend if you...

Always wanted to get passed the fence to find the famous burial of Clyde Barrow. Today while driving by, I notice the surrounding fence was totally gone. I went to take a look and did find what I'd been interested in seeing since I was a kid raised in Dallas. It was nice to finally go in tho I felt...

Western Heights Cemetery is located a sidewalk's width away from a very busy Fort Worth Avenue, in a section of Dallas that has clearly seen better days. Vandals have torn this cemetery apart, unfortunately, abusing it to the point of ripping out the headstones – which no one has bothered to replace. You would think that there would be a...

This cemetery is located just west of downtown Dallas, Texas and is in a part of a city that does not appear to be the safest, especially after dark. There is little or no parking at the Cemetery and parking on the street is not encouraged. The cemetery appeared to be unattended and in a state of disrepair. Several of...
