I was visiting the area and had my laptop with me in a standard size laptop bag. The museum didn't open until 11. The security lady stopped me at the door and asked to inspect; in fairness she did say it might cause an issue (no idea why; there's nothing there not bolted to the ground). Then after I went... more

My wife and I went to see the King Tut exhibit on the last day when the DMA was offering the half priced, lowered parking "Mummy Midnight Madness" deal from midnight to 7:30am. We arrived at just before 6am, and the parking attendant gladly took our $10 reduced parking fair. My wife and I got in line for tickets and... more

The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the best museums in the nation! I have been to many museums such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Getty Center, Los Angeles, the Getty Villa, Malibu, Palm Springs Museum of Art and the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena to name a few. This ranks as one of my... more

I'll start by saying that the museum's collection is very impressive and definitely worth seeing. However, the museum's staff has to be the worst in the country. The people at the ticket counter are rude and the docents are downright intolerable. In almost every gallery we were subjected to docents barking across the room and badgering folks to see their... more

As a member of the DMA for several years, I felt the TUT exhibit may have been misrepresented. In most of the advertisements, the famous image of Tut's golden sarcophagus is displayed. However, it wasn't the sarcophagus, or the famous death mask, but rather the miniature Canopic Coffin which was on display. While many were disappointed with what they felt... more

Went to Dallas exclusively for the King Tut exhibit (ok, for shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall, too) and was blown away by the exhibit! Found the Museum too much for one day as there are multiple floors and locations. The Tut exhibit ends on May 17, 2009 so must go there soon. I tickets are up to 32USD/person, but I... more

The King Tut exhibit was so disappointing... most artifacts are placed up against the walls, making for extremely difficult traffic flow (people tend to "clump"), and the information provided for each item is geared more toward trying to create disconnected story lines rather than describe materials used and construction techniques. The exhibit is broken up into many small rooms --... more

Was very disipointed on the king tut exibit as there was not much there including king tut himself. The advertising was very misleading and I feel very cheated by the Dallas museum. For $32 a person I expected much more. more

Similar to the previous reviewer. I was very excited to see King Tut. As I walked the exhibit I read every sign and listened to every audio sample, savoring every piece of information. It started off with pieces from tombs other than Tut's. That was fine. The further we went the closer we got to the main attraction and the... more

I went to see the King Tut exhibit when I was 7 or 8 years old in Washington D.C. (30 years ago), so I had expectations to see the golden coffin of King Tut. All the pictures, banners, tickets, etc. show what looks like the famous coffin. Well, come to find out the picture is of a small 18" organ... more
