This park is a gem. The foot trails are compelling and nice, and the new mountain bike trail looks great! It is about three miles long, and from what I could see of it, it looked delightful; curvy, smooth, and fast. We walked down to the lake and it was a bit low, but it was surprisingly clean and fresh... More

Customer service made wrong date of reservation of cabins, but was very helpful to correct it later. Staff was very friendly. There're several trails around the lake. We stayed in one bed cabins for two nights during Christmas time. The park has very few visitors. It's quiet and cold. The cabins were simple and clean. But it showed its age.... More

Spent Christmas at Lake Brownwood. I was hoping for snow, but it was OK we ended up with perfect weather. I don't think that that it mattered that it wasn't summer there was a couple of things to do and it was nice to have the park to ourselves along with a few other families. We rented a cabin, our... About 2 hours west of Fort Worth is Lake Brownwood state park. This park is different than most of the other ones near us as it has cabins to rent. We, and another family, rented the Fisherman's Lodge. It was great for us with plenty of room. There were 6 small bedrooms, each with a double bed. You will need... More

We visited brownwood lake state park on a road trip from Dallas on a unusually cold November Sunday drive. Unseasonable weather made the 36 degrees and 25 mile an hour north wind a challenge to enjoy the great scenic views at the park. But nonetheless we grinned and bared the weather and got some great pictures. We had the special... More

I'm usually not down for hiking, but it was awesome. They have camp grounds, cabins, swimming areas, pavilions, and several hiking trails. The trails range from beginner to advanced. I had fun exploring several of them.

We drove through just to check it out to see if we wanted to bring our boat back to fish later in the year. The lake was very low and it looked as if the boat ramps were closed. There were a few people camping there and it looks like a very nice place to camp and spend some time.... More

My husband and I rented a 2 person cabin (#6) for Memorial Day weekend. Although it rained the entire time, we still enjoyed our stay and will definetly return. The cabin was rustic, clean and just perfect. It was secluded with a beautful view. We had wildlife come and visit us (wild turkeys, deer, armadillo and a fox twice!) and... More

Easter w/ extended family at Lake Brownwood is always a treat. Cabin #5 this time around. Secluded and quiet, away from the bustle of the campground but close enough to walk over and join the fray. Have always enjoyed this park, even though the old fort style playground of my youth is long gone, it's still a great park.
