We have stayed many times at the park camping, we have also stayed in the cabins and screen shelters,. There really is something for every adventurer. The park is always in great condition and with the lake being full (Nov 2015) it is a wonderful place. A couple of hints. If you make reservations using the Texas Parks Reservation system,... More

The past years this lake, like so many other TX lakes, really suffered. I've been to LB many times and it's so much better with water in it. The State Park is a great place to stay and has some great rustic cabins.

We were not prepared to camp, but picked out some very interesting looking cabins located in the park. Would return for a longer time and actually stay in the park on another visit for sure.

Lake Brownwood State Park is a nice place to spend a few hours. It was too cold to go in the water the last time that I was there; however, my friend and I encountered several turkey buzzards sitting in a tree as we climbed the hill. I confess that they did make me a bit nervous, but nothing happened!... More

As new riders the Nopales Ridge Trail at the state park was our first trail ride. It was great. The trail is clearly marked at each quarter of a mile with benches located at the first and second miles. The brochure rated the trail as moderate. I would agree, but I'll add the rocky ridge area after the first 1/2... More

We stayed in one of the historic furnished cabins atop the bluffs overlooking Lake Brownwood. Although quite quaint, the beds proved to be comfortable and the linens adequate for the stay. These cabins were all built in the 1930's by the Conservation Core and it was neat for me to see the craftsmanship in the stone and wood work inside.... More

We camped at the park last week-end. The lake was up and we enjoyed swimming from the shoreline and also on the lake in the boat. Our camp site was good. The bathrooms were ok. We used the dock to launch our boat. It is very shallow. We can't wait to go back to camp.

Now that the lake is back up to normal after some good rains, it's a great place to come and relax. Fishing is good and the surroundings very pleasant. I can recommend coming here.

We stumbled upon Brownwood State Park at the beginning of our road trip. We'd planned to travel about 200 miles that day but ended up doing only about 50 because we found that there was a vacancy in a lakeside cabin. At only $70 for the night, a view of the lake, great rustic charm, sunset, and sunrise, it was... More
