As new riders the Nopales Ridge Trail at the state park was our first trail ride. It was great. The trail is clearly marked at each quarter of a mile with benches located at the first and second miles. The brochure rated the trail as moderate. I would agree, but I'll add the rocky ridge area after the first 1/2... More

We stayed in one of the historic furnished cabins atop the bluffs overlooking Lake Brownwood. Although quite quaint, the beds proved to be comfortable and the linens adequate for the stay. These cabins were all built in the 1930's by the Conservation Core and it was neat for me to see the craftsmanship in the stone and wood work inside.... More

We camped at the park last week-end. The lake was up and we enjoyed swimming from the shoreline and also on the lake in the boat. Our camp site was good. The bathrooms were ok. We used the dock to launch our boat. It is very shallow. We can't wait to go back to camp.

Now that the lake is back up to normal after some good rains, it's a great place to come and relax. Fishing is good and the surroundings very pleasant. I can recommend coming here.

We stumbled upon Brownwood State Park at the beginning of our road trip. We'd planned to travel about 200 miles that day but ended up doing only about 50 because we found that there was a vacancy in a lakeside cabin. At only $70 for the night, a view of the lake, great rustic charm, sunset, and sunrise, it was... More

Park was fairly crowded for a weekday stay. Lake is almost full for the first time in years. Restrooms were clean and park was in good condition. Staff was friendly as usual.

Hubby and I go twice a year to a different state park. Lake Brownwood State Park was one of the most beautiful we've been too. We went mid-April for our 4 year anniversary trip. Shelters were nice, we got one of the few with shade. DO NOT MISS the Lake Side Trail, best trail we've been on in any park... More

As of right now, March 2015, the water levels are low, but they still have a boat ramp open. They have a fishing dock and lots of places to fish from land. A good 3 mile hiking trail, that is not too hard and a couple more that are pretty easy also. The swimming area is pretty large, but you... More

This park is a gem. The foot trails are compelling and nice, and the new mountain bike trail looks great! It is about three miles long, and from what I could see of it, it looked delightful; curvy, smooth, and fast. We walked down to the lake and it was a bit low, but it was surprisingly clean and fresh... More

Customer service made wrong date of reservation of cabins, but was very helpful to correct it later. Staff was very friendly. There're several trails around the lake. We stayed in one bed cabins for two nights during Christmas time. The park has very few visitors. It's quiet and cold. The cabins were simple and clean. But it showed its age.... More
