Been in and out for years. Liked it better when I was 40. It has an interesting ambience but could do with a little cleaning and Arky has a foul mouth around women at times.

It's a bar. It's a pool hall. It's a dance hall. It's just a slice of what a real bar should be. There isn't a fern in sight. The jukebox plays the best music and the beer is cold and plentiful.
Arkey Blues is what a Texas honky tonk should be. this is definitely an original. Good music, cold beer and enough atmosphere to make the moon inhabittable. A must see in Bandera.
Stopped by for a Lone Star. It was early afternoon/late morning so the place was empty except for 3 patrons (Arkey, Hoot Gibson and another gentleman.) This place is a dive and awesome. They even had Lone Star light. Hoot Gibson introduced himself and let me tell you he's a HOOT! Definitely stop by for a beer.
We visited this bar several times during the few days we spent in Bandera last year. We really enjoyed the music and the general friendly atmosphere of the place. We hope to return someday.
In the 60's and 70's, my favorite times of the year for a trip to Bandera and Arkey blue's Silver Dollar Saloon......were Memorial Day, Labor Day and Hunters's Week....week-ends.Such great times and fun. Our favorite thing was to get Arkey to sing his party songs, like 'The Sewing Machine' and lots of others he wrote. If you get him started...

As a child I learned to two step at Arkeys. That was way back before the fireplace came in and the "Trapshoot" game was on the wall.
Not much has changed.
Saturdays offer a great jam session with local musicians which begins at 2:00 and usually lasts till 7:00 pm.
You owe it to yourself to give Arkey's a try....

If you are in Bandera, you have to visit this bar! Good old bar with good service! Arkey had a Norwegian moose sign some norwegians had given him, and we signed this. Don`t think many norwegians had been in this bar.
Great place to spend a rainy afternoon when you can't get out on the Twisted sisters. This place is so authentic dont't even try to "blend in". Just sit back, enjoy your beer and enjoy what is a real beer joint.
