This place is loaded with cool sites and experiences! They give a great tour that takes around 30 - 45 minutes and they explain the geology and history behind the cave formations.. It's a must do when your near Townsend!

Pros: The caverns were absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide was informative. The tour last between 1-2 hours. Use restroom before tour. Two main attractions at both ends with awesome scenery along the way. Con: Group was too big with about 20 people. A bit expensive ($50 for 3 adult) but well worth it.

Definitely worth the drive. A word of caution however.....the stairs are very steep, thin and many a bit wet so BE VERY CAREFUL. I'm a large fella, so it was a workout to head back up, but for the most part, rather easy goings. Just be prepared for a real workout on the legs as you ascend back up the... More

My wife and I decided to check out these caverns as we were exploring. I'm so glad we did. When we go there a tour was just starting, so we had no wait time. We were led down by a very knowledgeable guide. The tour was an hour and a half. That should give you a clue as to how... More

This is somewhere I had never been in all my years living close. Was neat to see. There are places that I didn't feel all that safe but as long as you're careful there's not much to worry about. I would add this place to your list if you are spending some time in Townsend.

What a treat! We had such an amazing time and learned so much. Our guide was Lauren and she was entertaining but not campy; so smart and really made sure we were able to experience every feature of the cave. A place not to miss, we packed a picnic and ate after the tour, it was a perfect day all... More

This was one of our must-dos when we were in Townsend and I'm sure glad we did! The caves are amazing, and the people who run it have done a great job of making it (relatively) accessible while keeping it in its natural state. Our tour guide was also very knowledgable and friendly. The tour was a little over an... More

I had not researched Tuckaleechee Caverns before going, it was a rainy day and something to do. After driving up and seeing the building, I really wasn't expecting too much, but was I surprised. Our tour was lead by Terry, he was a great guide, shared a lot of history about the cave, the owners and the area in general.... More

We were told by friends that we had to come to the Caverns during our trip and I am so glad we listened. This was one of our favorite things about our entire trip. The caverns were so neat and our kids couldn't get over the fact that they were discovered by kids their own age. our guide was very... More
