There are two sections of the Foothills Parkway, the east and the west. The east is a 5.6 mile trip and the west is 16 mile trip. It is a nice drive and the scenery is beautiful. The parkway has been under construction since 1944 and once done will be 71 miles long. If you are in the eastern Tennessee... More

We drove this route heading to Knoxville from Fontana after driving the Tail of the Dragon. It's a much more relaxing drive than the Tail. Not as many turns and not as high in the hills and actually much nicer views of the mountains. There are many stops along the way to get out and take pictures.

We love the Foothills Parkway. It's a closer drive than the National Park and not nearly as crowded. Best place in Maryville to catch a sunset. Just gorgeous!

Beautiful scenic drive, with pull offs to take photos. If you look for it in Google Maps, make sure you manually look for the road and drop a pin there. If you search for it, Google might send you somewhere random.

This is one of the more scenic highways in this area. Absolutely wonderful on a motorcycle. Beautiful twisting roads lined by endless forest, absolutely gorgeous when the leaves are turning.

Beautiful drive especially spring through autumn. There are scenic overlooks facing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and to the north, over Maryville toward Knoxville. Nice hour to 2 hour drive. I especially enjoy it on my motorcycle.

Rode the Parkway in late October with pretty fall colors. A bit congested (even on a Thursday afternoon), but a nice ride nonetheless.

This is an absolutely outstanding drive to take to view the beautiful fall colors. Lots of pull outs to view scenery. No wonder it has such a high rating throughout the country. I visit it every fall and am never disappointed. Easy drive and food facilities in nearby Townsend if you are okay with just filling your tummy. Nothing outstanding... More

We discovered the Foothills Parkway this weekend...and it was great! Beautiful views at the scenic stops and the drive is beautiful this time if year (Nov 1st). We travelled the 18 mile section outside of Townsend, TN to Hwy 129.
