Discovered by accident while rambling thru the Smokies on our Goldwing. What a trip! There are many scenic turnouts - take something to eat & drink...take time to sit & enjoy the scenery.

My husband and I have been thru this scenic route many times, taken a picnic lunch and brought a couple chairs and parked on one of the pull offs and just sat and looked at the scenic views. Very peaceful and tranquil. We love it and will do it again!!!

This road is wonderful. There are beautiful views of the mountians on either side of the road. This is a really easy drive in an area where you may have some white knuckle experiences. This is especially nice and easy going after coming off the Tail of the Dragon.

...we wanted to have a picnic and although websites said there was a picnic area, there was none to be found. Enjoyed the drive, took great pictures but would have liked a table or two.

There are many great photo opportunities for both sunrise and sunset shots! The drive is usually very quiet and uncrowded. There is access closeby to the famous "Tail of the Dragon" drive, known for having 318 curves in 11 miles!

We were looking for a short drive after our horseback ride and decided on Foothills a Parkway. Very pleasant drive.....the walk up Look Rock was nice and easy and the view from the top was spectacular! 360 degree view ..... If you're on this side of the Smokies, it's worth the time. We were staying in Townsend and decided to go check out the foothills parkway which is about 6 miles or so away. Nice peaceful drive up to Look Rock,, some pulloffs along the way. Best view is at the top at Look Rock. As previously said by another reviewer, the parking lot area where there is a viewing area is... More

From Townsend it is a short ride to this short scenic drive on the other side of Smoky Mountains. Very quiet with very little traffic and some great overlooks. This was a peaceful drive away from all the normal touristy bits. Heading back towards Cherokee it takes you to the 129 but that's another story.
