This is worth the drive out to foothills. while we did not drive the entire road we saw plenty of pretty mountains. There are lots of opportunities to pull of and see the countryside. It is beautiful.

In this heavily travelled Great Smoky Mountain area, this road was much less busy. It has great views of the Smoky Mountains including the tower that allows a 360 degree view. We had a light rain while driving up so we got some good photos of the smoke on the Great Smoky Mountains.

This is not a long drive,(maybe 20 miles) but gives a good glimpse of the Smokie Mountain area. You'll drive in a canopy of trees most of the time, but there are several places to pull and picnic, view the scenery, with some access to the roadside streams. The road has lots of curves and is narrow, but a good... More

We enjoyed this drive. It was quiet, very little traffic but still had some great views. One side had views of the Smoky Mountains, and one side had views of a valley with lots of homes, etc. (Maryville?)

The best views around - I love the parkway - views of Maryville and of the valley! Pack a lunch and spend the day.

Beautiful route with many pull offs and vistas. There are even some trail heads off of this route. I recommend Look Rock hiking trail and view. It is a .5 mile trip to the top of a 360 degree lookout that rivals Clingman's Dome. The trip back down is another .5 miles.

Worth the drive, particularly if you simply want to enjoy some lovely views and plenty of "elbow room" when taking your pictures. On the way up, we stopped at several pull outs for photos of the valley and towns below. Encountered a number of motorcyclists and just a few cars. Refreshing to drive a road so "open" in the afternoon!... More
