We were ending our first family vacation with a trip to Smoky Mountain River Rat, complete with family dog. It was a fun trip down the river, even though the water was a little low when we came down. Everyone had their own tube (yes, even the Labrador pup -- who got a ton of attention the whole trip) My... More

Family float and rapids float are both great. You can travel back and forth between the two on the same ticket in the same day. Plenty of room to stop and picnic on the grounds of Wears Valley location. Great family reunion type of trip.

We made a 2nd trip to river rat in August. (1st trip in June). The water level was up from our first visit and made it a bit smoother. Tubing was a lot of fun and relaxing. Great thick tubes and tether straps if you want to go tethered to someone. Pretty scenery and well worth the $$. The bus... More

Oh what a day! We only go to River Rat!!! They are professional, friendly, and know the river. They pointed out what to be aware of in the low spots and told of the few deep spots, there really are some on Little River in Townsend. We saw a few others with different colored tubes from another place in town... More

A fun experience for our entire family (ages 7-66). The creek was low, so it was a slower ride. Only had to get out and walk a few feet a fee times. Most of the time when we got caught on the rocks, we could just push off and move on. Fun way to enjoy the scenery, and as my... More

Our experience at River Rat was hilarious. It is $14 for all day, you can chose 2 routes, and you get to ride however many times you want to! Dont forget there is 2 outpost; one is for the family and the other is for the adventure route. I think our favorite one was the adventure because it was the... More

I have tried several tube rentals in townsend. By far the best experience has been with River Rat. They have friendly bus drivers (take that, river rage rude driver!). Their tubes are better than the rest. The seams are flat, not ragged and handles are at better locations. Tie offs are high quality webs, not cheap hay bale ropes. If... More

My two children and I went on the upper portion for our first time tubing ever.My 13 yr. old son had fun swinging on the rope into the river, and I had to help my 11 yr old daughter in her tube in the deep part .I had my bottom struck by rocks whenever it got shallow, and got stuck in... More

Well run and everything is in good shape, just wasn't all it was cracked up to be for some of us. If you like a nice slow creep down the river, this is for you.

Great way to have some inexpensive fun. River was low, but still a great way to spend the day. Bus took us to drop off and path out was easy. There is also a nice little ice cream place next door that is really good.
