This is the second time we have joined Jim on the Taking Better Photos Tours, and enjoyed every moment. We did learn a bit more this time than last about taking better photos, and were pleased as to how much we recalled from the previous year's class. The tours that Jim takes us on are wonderful...we get to experience some... More

I really enjoyed this class with Jim. He did about a hour worth of teaching, and he broke it down so everyone would understand. We then ate lunch at Corinos. Afterwards, we went on a photography tour. He took us into the Smokies. We went to several beautiful places for photos. Plus, he gave us a history lesson as well.... More

Colleen was a wonderful, enthusiastic & knowledgeable instructor! I was most impressed with how she broke down complex areas of photography into easy-to-digest nuggets that we were able to use immediately. It was a "beginner" style class, but there was lots of valuable information! They offer other classes too, & DVDs & tours. These were offered (but NOT pushed as... More

I really enjoyed this tour with Jim. The class started at Corinos restaurant and was very informative. Then we had lunch and it was delicious. Tremendous portions. Then we went on the tour and Jim is very knowledgeable about the area. I learned so much about taking pictures and using a camera. The other people on the tour were fun... More

Some of my family members and I took this class while in Pigeon Forge for a family reunion and it was well worth the time! I learned many simple "tricks" for taking better pictures with my phone, and also learned a lot of interesting history of the area. The fact that it included lunch (which was delicious!) is a bonus.... More

Jim was great. This is an excellent small group setting. When we mentioned this to our 13 and 11 year old sons, they rolled their eyes. However, after the tour, they commented how much fun they had. Since we home school, we went ahead and bought all of the DVD's pertaining to photography. We also decided to buy an early... More

Jim did an excellent job presenting the basics of picture taking and camera features. He was entertaining in his presentation with great use of visuals. The lunch was very good and the tour was great as we put to use the techniques he had shown us. Overall I would say it was one of the best things we did while... More

My husband sought out a fun outing to do together on our family vacation and found it here! We enjoyed learning more about our camera and how to take better photos in this great basic class. We loved Jim's humor and ability to teach in a way that met anyone and everyone's needs. Make sure you plan ahead so that... More

The class was excellent. We learned a lot about our cameras. And then we got to have a good lunch at Carino's followed by an excellent guided tour of Cades Cove. We got much education about the area and got to practice using our different camera settings we have learned. We would do another of his tours in the future.

First, let me say that if you have an android phone that you use regularly as a camera download the "A better camera" app. The tour begins with an hour of classroom instruction on basic photography and Jim, the tour leader, is an excellent teacher. He is a retired preacher and it shows in his patience, ability to teach and... More
