An extremely enjoyable evening which started off with a family style dinner from Monell's served family-style. We had plenty to eat and met some really nice folks from Florida, Ohio, and Michigan. I was a little disappointed in the reserved seating for us because my seat was directly behind a cameraman, and since it was a sold out show I... More

The good: neat location south of Nashville in Franklin, TN; the building is part of an artist colony with many shops and restaurants--- no chains. The four acts were high quality on the night we were there. The not as good: we purchased two reserved seats at a 50% premium ($15 vs. $10 general admission). When we were shown our... More

MCR is a music venue that seats about 300 and hosts 3 or 4 artists in about a 2-hour show. It also broadcasts the show live on the radio. While one artist was getting ready on stage, another artist was being interviewed. On the night I was there, the line-up contained a blues band, an impressionist acoustic guitarist, a progressive... This was like being at a miniature version of the Grand Ole Opry and I loved it. It was being broadcast on the radio and recorded for cable TV. All of the performers were top notch and very talented, especially Gretchen Peters. I loved the Nashville Jam at the end.

If you are in the Nashville area on a Wednesday night and looking for good music, go to Music City Roots at the Franklin Factory! You will be treated to a live radio show broadcast that is also filmed for airing on PBS. It's almost as good as going to the Grand Old Opry!

We stumbled on to this by visiting the Franklin Visitor Center. It happened to be a Wednesday and the show happens on Wednesday evenings. We had no other plans and the admission was only $10, and so we decided to try it. The show is live on radio and PBS so it was interesting to watch the behind-the-scenes production. There... More

Highly recommended for great roots music. This is what you came to Nashville to see. Jim Lauderdale is the host and he is awesome. We've been there several times and seen Greensky Bluegrass, Shawn Camp, Greg Trooper, Rachael Hester, and other good acts. You'll have to drive outside of town: Franklin is in the suburbs. This is very much a... More

We attended the Music City Roots show in Franklin and were impressed by the quality of the musicians and the show's production. Starting with the introduction all the way to the last act, the show is flawless. Four different musical groups performed, each with their own sound, giving the audience a variety of styles to enjoy. Seeing live music in... More

We had a great time. We had kids and adults in our group, people from the Nashville area and from out of the state. Everyone loved it. The quality of the performers was excellent. There were such a diverse group of performers that it really entertained a wide variety of music lovers. The ambiance with the live radio show and... More
