Established July 2012. Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta, Dolly, Willie . . . There was a time when country music was on a first name basis with its fans. A time when the streets of downtown Nashville were alive with the sound of backroom guitar pulls, Midnight Jamborees and the Grand Ole Opry. Now you can recapture the magic of this golden era on the Walkin' Nashville Music City Legends Tour. Packed with history and behind-the-scenes anecdotes about your favorite country legends, this 90-minute walking tour tells the real story of how Nashville came to be called Music City. You'll see Printer's Alley, The Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Hatch Show Print.Your friendly guide is Grammy-nominated journalist and musician, Bill DeMain. A longtime resident of Nashville, he will show you hidden corners of the city not found in any guidebook and tell you stories you won't hear on any other tour. From APRIL - OCTOBER, tours run Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday. From NOVEMBER - MARCH, tours run Friday & Saturday only (weekdays available by special arrangement for groups of 8 or more)Start Time: 10:30 AM (Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in)Tour Length: Approx. 2 Hours

Bill's insight into the area was priceless! Easy walking tour of famous sites incl. history and lots of great stories of people in the area, both past and present. He sent a bunch of links to songs and things discussed--rounded out the experience nicely. We really enjoyed it...except for my teenager who doesn't like anything. I'm sure he soaked some... More

Far more history to Nashville "country" than I'd known until I took the Walkin' Nashville Tour with Bill DeMains. We met some of the true legends of country music, heard their stories and visited the sights where some of the greats began. This tour was so fun as Bill's insights about history and actual interviews with the legends made Nashville... More

We cannot speak more highly of this tour and the guide Bill DeMains. There is a reason why the comments are excellent. He is very personable and his knowledge of the city and country music is amazing. He is very engaging. Two days after the tour we saw him guiding another group. As he came closer to us he said... Bill is passionate and very knowledgable making him a great guide. I do suggest doing this walking tour on your first day as it gives a very good insight for the rest of your time in Nashville. Bill will also give some good tips.

Bill is an amazing tour guide. He gave us an idea of what Nashville was like when the legends of country music were just starting out. He has an obvious love and enthusiasm for country music history. He has some amazing stories to tell, and we were never bored the whole two hours on the tour! Highly recommend!

Our guide knew so much about the music and history of Nashville. He gave us recommendations for music, sights, and restaurants. We followed them all and had a great weekend!
