Description: Established July 2012. Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta...
Established July 2012. Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta, Dolly, Willie . . . There was a time when country music was on a first name basis with its fans. A time when the streets of downtown Nashville were alive with the sound of backroom guitar pulls, Midnight Jamborees and the Grand Ole Opry. Now you can recapture the magic of this golden era on the Walkin' Nashville Music City Legends Tour. Packed with history and behind-the-scenes anecdotes about your favorite country legends, this 90-minute walking tour tells the real story of how Nashville came to be called Music City. You'll see Printer's Alley, The Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Hatch Show Print.Your friendly guide is Grammy-nominated journalist and musician, Bill DeMain. A longtime resident of Nashville, he will show you hidden corners of the city not found in any guidebook and tell you stories you won't hear on any other tour. From APRIL - OCTOBER, tours run Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday. From NOVEMBER - MARCH, tours run Friday & Saturday only (weekdays available by special arrangement for groups of 8 or more)Start Time: 10:30 AM (Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in)Tour Length: Approx. 2 Hours

A fantastic walking tour. It would be impossible to find a better guide than Bill DeMain, a musicologist, music journalist, and excellent songwriter in his own right. Bill blends the rich history of Nashville's legendary music scene with stories he has culled from hundreds of interviews he has conducted over the years. Whether you are a casual music fan, or... Our walking tour with Bill DeMain was outstanding! Bill's knowledge of Nashville and Country Music was very impressive! His tour is very entertaining and enjoyable. In addition to leading this tour he is a songwriter, musician, journalist and has interviewed many country music stars. You can't go wrong with this tour and I would consider it a MUST DO for... What a great walking tour! It was very hot and humid, but Bill made sure to find as much shade as possible. He is full of knowledge and stories you won't find elsewhere. As a magazine writer/songwriter, he has interviewed many country stars personally and his little nuggets of information are priceless. What impressed us the most is Bill showed... More

Bill was excellent. He has tremendous knowledge of Nashville and we learned a great deal. The walk was easy even on a humid day. Great tips on where to eat and where to go for authentic Bluegrass! Great tips for CD and vinyl purchases. I even scored on a great Chet Atkins/Les Paul album Bill recommended!

He is also very helpful at making suggestions for music venues to see, as well as restaurants. After the tour, we took his advice, and went to "Etch" for... More

Great, great tour of the city. Before any self exploration, do Bill's walking tour. He is extremely knowledgable and a great story teller.

This should be on everyone's 'things to do' in Nashville list. Bill explains the roots of music in Nashville. This is a man that truly enjoys what he is doing.
