Owner description: Established July 2012. Hank, Johnny, Chet, George, Tammy, Conway, Loretta, Dolly, Willie . . . There was a time when country music was on a first name basis with its fans. Packed with history and behind-the-scenes anecdotes about your favorite country legends, this 90-minute walking tour tells the real story of how Nashville came to be called Music City. You'll see Printer's Alley, The Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Hatch Show Print.Your friendly guide is Grammy-nominated journalist and musician, Bill DeMain. A longtime resident of Nashville, he will show you hidden corners of the city not found in any guidebook and tell you stories you won't hear on any other tour. From APRIL - OCTOBER, tours run Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday. From NOVEMBER - MARCH, tours run Friday & Saturday only (weekdays available by special arrangement for groups of 8 or more)Start Time: 10:30 AM (Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in)Tour Length: Approx. 2 Hours

I've been a fan of Bill's writing as a music journalist and songwriter for some time, so when I signed up for the tour I knew it would be great... I just had no idea what a lasting impact it would have on me. I'm a musician and teacher so I know how hard it can be to bring history... More

Bill was very knowledgeable and so pleasant. It was hot as the dickens the day we went (in July) but we started out early in the morning and finished up before the day became intolerably hot. If you care anything about Country Music, past and present, you will enjoy this tour. One suggestion is that Bill make a deal with... More

Bill does an amazing job transporting people back to country's roots and the history of music in Nashville. By far, this tour was my favorite activity in the Music City.

It does not get any better than this. Bill's stories and knowledge were terrific. When the tour ends you can now go off to explore Nashville with a keener sense of what the music History of this great city is. Thanks Bill!

This was a most enjoyable and informative two hours. Bill clearly knows the history of Nashville and is very knowledgable about music. I would make this the first thing you do when you get to Nashville. An enjoyable morning and a real bargain!!!

My husband and I aren't massive Country fans so weren't sure we'd enjoy this, but Bill not only explained the beginnings of the Music City but also such interesting stories about all sorts of people and events that had touched Nashville that we could have listened all day. Thanks Bill for making our trip.

My husband and I took this tour in October 2014, and enjoyed it immensely! Bill DeMain is so knowledgeable about the history of music in Nashville and has lived there for a good part of that history. He made the walk fun, easy to do, casual, but covered so many details about the singers and songwriters who made their way... More

I mean it! My husband and I took this tour Hallowe'en morning. Bill DeMain, our tour guide gave us the most fascinating insight to the origins of country music. I wasn't really a fan of C&W before the tour, but learning about the origins of the music, the artists' talent, the people who helped them pave the way, converted me... More
