This zoo does not have a large collection of animals, but is very nice to visit with small children. It is easy to watch elephants, giraffes and other animals. The territory of the zoo is rather large and if you have annual pass, you can use the zoo as an ordinary park - just for walks.

It was pretty hot when I went and I am not use to the heat so it was killing me. Even people that live in Nashville were complaining so I didn't feel to bad. The zoo is pretty fun to walk around and see all the animals. The giraffes were getting a little feisty so that was pretty hilarious when... More

The kidskin going to the Zoo in October is no exception. The Ghouls of Grassmere is a yearly event surrounded around Halloween that allows kids and adults enjoy the zoo, trick or treating, game playing, hay rides, etc. We go evey year and have a great time!

It looks like they have plenty of space. I've been here more than once and it is a good place to visit, especially if you have kids. Other commenters noted that sometimes the animals are far away: that's a good thing because they have room to move around. It's not the biggest or best zoo in the country, but it's... More

We did not have any up close views of most of the animals. We've been several times. It's crowded, but always a nice experience. Very spread out. Kids love the train! The flamingos are beautiful--my fave! If you live close--you'll like it--but don't travel long distances--there are better zoos! Cincinnati, Memphis & Louisville!

The reason I say winter is best is that the animals are more active! We visited the Nashville Zoo on Christmas Eve afternoon. We literally had the zoo to ourselves. The staff gave us a "cold weather" discount for half price for our tickets!! The zoo is constantly growing and improving. We LOVE the flamingo exhibit, which has a fence... More

This zoo is one of the nicest ones I have ever visited! It is a must see if you are in the Nashville area. I lived in TN for a decade and the changes they made and the expansion was not only impressive and wide scale but it was well planned. The habitats cater to the animals while also allowing... More

My family visited the zoo in August 2014 during a heat wave. Man it was hot and we did have to seek out hydration! The zoo was under renovation for a new entry plaza. I thought the elephant exhibit is one of the best I have seen anywhere. I enjoyed the Grassmere Mansion and its re-created farm. The kids got... More

I've taken my son here twice, and it's nothing I can say "wow" about. More walking than things and animals to look at. The food courts have great food. The playground Is the best part about the zoo, which is sad because I Dont care to pay 20+ to play at a playground. My son doesn't ever even ask to... More
