Owner description: Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome. Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

My friend and I had never been to a plantation before. This one was really easy to get to on the bus, and it was easily walkable. We paid extra to have the tour of the mansion which is recommended otherwise you don't really know what you're seeing. The wine tasting at the end was exquisite, and normally my friend... More

I loved the guided tour. The history of the plantation is very well presented by the guides, and the wine tasting at the end was a pleasant surprise! The blackberry wine is amazing. I loved hearing the stories of each descendant, and even the stories of the slaves. VERY interesting tour, and a beautiful sight to see!

After one day downtown Nashville, in the heat, thousands of people, lots of music we decided to take a day off and visit Belle Meade. What a lovely place! Beautiful grounds, amazingly large magnolia trees (in bloom), and a great tour guide named Cliff. We are not great history buffs but certainly did enjoy everything we heard and saw.

Loved the tour and history of the Belle Meade. What a beautiful place!! I highly recommend the tour.. but don't forget to have lunch at the restaurant. What an incredible meal! I would have come back for the specialty bloody mary's too! It is a couple hours well spent.

We probably spent 4 hours walking around the grounds and doing the house tour. Overall, we had a fun time and enjoyed our tour guide. They even have a little winery on the grounds where you can sample a few wines at the end of the tour.

The tour of the Belle Meane mansion and grounds is worth the price of admission. Tour guides dressed in period pieces guide you through the mansion and provide a wonderful, informative description of the plantation and historical events. This history of the bloodlines of award winning horses is fascinating. Take a walking tour of the beautiful grounds located right in... More

The plantation, tour & tourguides were great. I would highly recommend taking the tour, the home is beautiful. The wine tasting was included in the tour price...if you are a wine snob, you won't like it, because all of the wines are very sweet. The tour price is reasonable & all of the proceeds go back into the plantation.

Great Southern Plantion with history but with a somber touch of the Civil War and the hard times of the 1800's!!
