Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome. Had a great time touring Belle Meade. I didn't know anything about the plantation until arriving and learned a lot. The property is beautiful, I loved looking at all the carriages in the carriage house and saw them preparing for a wedding which looked amazing! The wine tasting at the end was so fun we really enjoyed the interaction with... More

We visited Belle Meade plantation while visiting the Nashville area. The house tour was great and very informative. The grounds are well maintained. The house is 85 % furnished with original furniture and artwork. We had lunch at the property restaurant and the food was wonderful. There are picnic tables available if you prefer to pack a lunch. We did... More

While in Nashville, we decided to take a tour of Belle Meade. Austin did a great job guiding us thru the house and relishing the facts about the family and their history. Sadly the weather did not cooperate and it downpoured most of the time we were there.. The tour ends with a complimentary wine tasting which was nice.. Winery... More

Please do not be fooled by the high ratings for this attraction. I am completely lost as to what people love about this stop. I found it to be a waste of money and time. I wonder if people really spoke freely about their stop. Skip this tour and see something else in Nashville like the Hermitage. Your time and... More

A lovely tour guide dressed in period clothes gives details of the life there. So interesting, and she was well informed for everyone's questions were answered in more detail. Do not miss going into the slave quarters and read every word. You might end up with moist eyes with sympathy for the "name less" servants. To sip different wines at... More

I had recently read Tamara Alexander's historical fiction book "To Whisper Her Name" and wanted to see the Belle Meade Plantation where the story had taken place. What a delight when our tour group was given a tour by the head curator! He had great insight into the owners, their families and the horse business of the plantation as well... More
