I have toured The Belmont Mansion twice. The house is beautiful and the people that lived there were such real and interesting people. I really enjoyed the tour and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and would answer any questions you might have. When the tour was done I didn't want to leave. The only complaint I had was the... more

Beautiful mansion...there's a wedding there almost every weekend in the summer. And, according to http://www.hauntedhouses.com/states/tn/belmont_mansion.cfm it's haunted! more

I enjoyed touring this historic house and viewing the Victorian furnishings and the different china sets. Be sure to notice the map in the boys' room of the USA at the time which has all of each state's counties mapped - very neat! Even more enjoyable, however, was learning about the interesting history of the home's owner. We arrived shortly... more

Located on current grounds of Belmont University, this is a gem. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable. I can't decide what I liked best: the house, the Victorian furnishings, or the fascinating life of the owner, Adelicia Hayes Franklin Acklen Cheatham. If you have the time, don't miss this one. more

Having read a number of reviews critical of the tour guides, I had to write to comment on the wonderful and professional job done by our tour guide, Kendall, on our tour Ocober 12, 2008. Kendall made the story of the mansion come to life with her commentary and her enthusiasm. She always encouraged questions, knew the answers to most,... more

This house is owned by the university, and has been poorly renovated. The docent we had was a condescending jerk. He berated everyone that asked a question. The house is in poor condition and needs lots of funding to properly renovate. The docent seemed to take this personally as if the university owed to them to renovate this place. more

The house is nice, the story of how it was founded and eventually became Belmont University was very interesting. The guides were a bit underwhelming. I assume they are students at Belmont, and only one of them was really a good guide. The first was enthusiastic but constantly rushing, and the last was almost sullen and rather disinterested. That makes... more

Our tour guide, Halley, was tremendously knowledgable about the history as well as the artifacts. She was genuinely deeply interested and vested in embracing the period and sharing what she had learned with us. It is worth finding (not many signs!)--I left having learned a great deal and will continue to look up those parts of history I previously had... more

It was a bit hard to find a close place to park and directions were a little confusing since University Buildings literally back up to the mansion. But once we started the tour we were so glad we took the time to find it. Our guide Jim? was very knowledgable about every aspect of the home. People asked questions I... more
