Excellent service, the food was fairly quick, fresh and delicious. Beautiful setting and excellent wines at the Cellar door. This visit we went to the newly opened cafe area between the restaurant and cellar door. We chose to sit outside, although there is also a covered area. My only question is, why can't you have a dog on the lead... More

This was our 2nd visit to Montalto but our 1st experience of the restaurant. I could go on and on about the food but what was really impressive was the service. We had a 4 year old and two toddlers, which can sometimes make dining an experience in and of itself. The wait staff were beyond hospitable, even pre-empting our... More

Australia Day celebrations perfectly spent with great food, wine, service and company. The three course lunch for $88 was excellent value and more than sufficient. I started with a tender flavoursome roasted chicken in a beautiful broth. A fine piece of lamb with an excellent beetroot puree and to finish and my favorite, a salted caramel and banana parfait. Many... More

Our only mistake was deciding to visit Montalto on a public holiday over the Xmas period - it was incredibly busy!! Nevertheless we braved the crowds and were so glad we did. The wines were excellent and enjoyed by all. My dad loved their olive oil also. The staff were excellent and more than handled the busy crowds with ease.... More

A delightful family lunch to celebrate a birthday. Could not fault either the food or servicea. We have eaten there several times and will return.

We went for a family lunch. There were ten of us, right before Christmas. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Our youngest has multiple anaphylactic food allergies. Our waiter took careful notes, and the restaurant manager came over to reassure us that her food would be prepared separately and also to reinforce what things on the table she should not touch.... Lovely plates/bowls but very little on them. Essential to order several extra sides. My duck was tough & disappointing. $45 for a child's plate of chicken & chips & bowl of ice cream outrageous! We used to love it for a special occasion.

Montalto used to be our "go to", fun, relaxed, casual dining with scenic eating in Red Hill. But returning to Montalto last week was really disappointing. We had a terrible experience. It is as if it is under new management although other wineries told us it is the same management. The the picnic tables have gone from first come first... More

Hi Lobstertastedgood, Sorry to hear your recent experience did not match expectations. A waiting list for Piazza tables was introduced to better manage the demand during the peak holiday period. There is a staff member to greet and inform guests of this, our apologies that your group was missed. There has been a delay on some food during the busiest... More

Unfortunately they have not yet found their feet after the renovation. We waited more than an hour for some bread to hold our hungry children at bay, and only 3 of 6 pizzas turned up! After many lovely visits over the years this one was a disaster, made worse by grumpy staff ( except one lovely lad in his early... More

Hi Baysideliving, Thanks for taking the time to visit the new Piazza. Unfortunately the volume of people visiting during the holiday period has led to longer than normal wait times for pizza. We've taken on board your comments and are making sure we let people know of any delays and offering alternatives that we can deliver faster during the busiest... More
