Go for the experience! The photos I have from inside the caves are absolutely breathtaking.... I considered posting them but i didn't want to ruin the surprise, it's just something you should enjoy and see for yourself. When I showed the photos to family and friends, they were in awe of the beauty trapped peacefully in the underground of Gippsland.... More

the caves were great. The guide that showed us through was very good. Highly recommend the caves as a must visit place to go. We were there in winter. Summer would be great to do some of the walks around the national park. only problem there is no gift shop or café. I do recommend the café at Buchan it... More

Buchan is quite far from Melbourne, but if you are in Gippsland it is worth the trip. The caves are quite interesting with stalagmites, stalactites, beautiful pool formations, and other features. The tour guides give a good commentary on the caves as you walk through, they are well-lit so you can see all the main features. There is a campground... More

Really nice few hours spent at buchan caves. However if you have any back problems do not go to Fairy Cave as the tour guides joke about it being sciatica tunnel and unfortunately this is very true. We saw Royal Cave and Fairy Cave and our favourite was Fairy Cave (even if we did come out with back ache) Our... More

Very interesting just a beautiful country spot rather chilly this time of year and misty in the hills. The tour was informative and so amazing that they have been around so very very long. Would highly recommend staying in the area for a few days, relaxing away from the hustle bustle of life, not alot of phone service which some... More

I'm an annual spelunker at the Buchan caves, and have been coming to the park since I was a child. I can highly recommend the tours of both the lit and the unlit caves and for the more adventurous the wild caving. The fairy and royal caves are both beautifully lit and easy to walk through, the formations are exquisite... More

Fantastic cave tour - we went into Royal Cave - it had beautiful chambers with water pools and our great tour guide provided interesting explanations of how the cave would have formed and its history

Made a last minute decision to detour from my trip to Melbourne to see the caves. Very informative and the Fairy Caves were amazing.

A country road drive to what seems like the middle of nowhere--however, the destination was worth it! While smaller than some national park caves (Mammoth Caves), they were just a beautiful, if not more so. We only got to see the Royal Caves as we didn't want to wait around for the Fairy Cave tour; however, believe the cave we... More

We stayed at the camping ground in Buchan and it was beautiful. There was plenty of manicured grassed areas as well as lots of walking tracks and fantastic amenities that were very clean. The Caves were awesome and an easy walking distance from the camp ground, there is the Royal Cave and the Fairy Cave. The rangers that took us... More
