It's been a long time since I came down to Barry Island. Gone is the fun fair, although I never quite saw where the fun came into riding on poor quality rides. Last time I visited I think the old ride of death was still in use. Anyway the funfair is gone !! So that really leaves a handful of... More

Sad fun fair and few shops outside with nic-nacs and cafes in. Planned to reopen Easter/Spring 2015 with more rides and new operator. Opposite the seafront which had been smartened up with crazy golf, new cafes, beach huts, and a lovely sand beach. Famous area for TV programme Gavin and Stacey. Don't write off Barry Island yet but fun fair... More

Unfortunately the pleasure park is now closed and a site for sore eyes. Apparently there are plans to refurbish and re-open the park. Sad as it looked as if it might have been a fun place to visit. The island is still worth a visit as there are shops and amusement arcades. Fantastic views from the sandy beach and even... More

Last Saturday 07/03/15 we went to Barry Island for the day. What a glorious day sat on the beach all day, had some chips nice. Parked in the park on the old Butlins site at 5 pm went to go home it took an hour and 20 minutes to get out of that car park. Won't park there again.

Called in to Barry after a Cardiff C ity match and it was buzzing. A lovely evening so we took a stroll along the beach, stopped off at a fish shop and walked along the promenade. Magor investment is taking place and the earier looked vibrant and inviting. Well worth a visit.

Ive been to Barry many times over forty years.. Have seen it in its hayday and in bad times.. I would say it currently looks the worst ever Buildings with peeling pain and knackered shutters.. Cracked paving. Deceased funfair.. Its so very sad

We visited here on the way to go back home to the Midlands. There was a lot of work going on to attract more people to the place. New paths, flowers, lawns, beach huts, climbing wall for small children. There was rides out but was not open. Plenty of cafes. It will be a nice place to visit on a... More

Having in lived in Barry for quite some years, the beach is not really a place i came very often. But in the last 2 years there has been a marked difference in the appearance of the whole island, and for the better. Obviously there are still things to do, but planning is still under way. I enjoy going here... More
