Ignore all the publicity about the old funfair closing down and being replaced by cinemas, flats and American diners. This is just one small part of Barry Island, there is so much more to see and do. In the summer, the beach is one of the best you'll find anywhere, all sand, safe bathing and loads of space. There are... More

Thought we'd spend sometime here before heading to Cardiff city centre but was put off by too many dogs. Not a lot in terms of what the kids could do. Was lucky to find parking after driving around for a while. Generally run down but I just wonder what a major investor could do to that place. Great potential.

Barry island is run down and needs major investment but Whitmore Bay is a pleasant sandy beach, if you ignore the chip shops/amusement arcades along the front. There is limited car parking along the front but there is a large car park a short walk away and out of season it is free. There was a lot of dogs on... More

Very Run down part of Barry Island. Large area that can be used better. When we visited it was with my young daughter, the area was full of dogs roaming and lots of caravans.....didnt like it at all!

Frankly the whole of Barry is something of a miserable and run down place. Used to be good fun and lots to do. Now? my advice would be to stay away, overpriced and not that much to do anymore.

We love Barry Island my family has been visiting from before I was born. The amusement park and amusements are outdated and increasing in price, such a shame about the log flume it needs a good sprucing up, the tourists will start flocking back in generating more income! It needs to be sorted.

Wanted to here just for the Gavin and Stacey angle. Very pretty but completely run down. I see money is being spent on it and Im sure it will be amazing when finished. We had to have chips and they were great! Leave it a year or so if you are thinking of a visit.
