Having grown up in the area, I expected a bit more from the island. Back in the 70's it was a fun place to go, now its a sad and run down place. The even sadder bit is the beach is fab. The beach has clean golden sand that goes on for ever, that has improved since the 70's! If... More

I and Hubby visited Barry Island with few of our friends, we were probably 9-10 in number. The journey from Cardiff city was probably near about 20-30 mins by train. When we landed, the view was great, we had great time strolling up and down, had our photo session, and lunch in one of the restaurants there. Over all experIence... More

I recently visited Barry on a family day out. After having a really nice time on the beach, we decided to pay a visit to the Pleasure Park (for old times sake as it was a staple of my childhood - that old log flume!) . . . Unfortunately, the pleasure park is very very dated with all the rides... More

Barry Island Pleasure Island is a dump! Nothing like on Gavin and Stacey. Very run down and naff all there. All rides are 3 tokens and sold in multiples that you can't use all of unless you my more. Rip off. Day out rescued by the beautiful sandy beach there - that was worth the trip.

i visited barry on the weekend, very busy and popular. There are plenty of places to eat. The fair which is near is a bit run down, but still some fun to be had there. This is a brilliant place to take the kids or dog for a walk. They are currently doing works to make it much better, which... More

In the late seventies we stayed at the now closed Butlins camp. I have a lot of happy memories of heading over to the Pleasure Park and buying a book of tickets that let you go on each of the rides, This was my first return to the park. What a sad sight, and indeed site it is now. So... More

I visited Barry on Sunday late afternoon with my 14 year old daughter as we had been away in Cardiff for the weekend . The sun was shining so we decided to detour to Barry to walk in the sand . What a gorgeous sandy beach and so clean , we walked along the beach and paddled in the sea... More

Have not been to Barry Island for many, many years so it was with great suprise that i saw the beach looking so clean and busy. The sea doesnt go out to far which was a bonus as my twins were in and out like snails in a shell, although if you are expecting blue clean waters then you will... More
