3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2015 NEW

We visited here on the way to go back home to the Midlands. There was a lot of work going on to attract more people to the place. New paths, flowers, lawns, beach huts, climbing wall for small children. There was rides out but was not open. Plenty of cafes. It will be a nice place to visit on a... More

Having in lived in Barry for quite some years, the beach is not really a place i came very often. But in the last 2 years there has been a marked difference in the appearance of the whole island, and for the better. Obviously there are still things to do, but planning is still under way. I enjoy going here... More

Horrific mess that makes the Island look desolate. They've squeezed in mobile rides in between broken and fallen down ones that have been there since the '60s. Horrid place.

Visited with my 6 year old daughter on a sunny day during February half term. Small number of expensive fairground type amusements open. The Pirate Golf cost £7 and took us about 10 mins! Fish and chip shops and cafes are what you expect, busy and ok but not haute cuisine. Nice beach and the front is tidy and developing.... More

Travelled 45 mins to walk dog on barry beach on Christmas Day. Loads of people and dogs enjoying the winter sunshine. Nice to see money has been spent updating the prom with beach huts and new walkways. One big problem, the public toilets were all closed, even at Cold Knap. Ridiculous. Left earlier than we wanted and had to drive... More

Ignore all the publicity about the old funfair closing down and being replaced by cinemas, flats and American diners. This is just one small part of Barry Island, there is so much more to see and do. In the summer, the beach is one of the best you'll find anywhere, all sand, safe bathing and loads of space. There are... More
