What a mixed up place Barry island is. Wasteland car parks, vile fairground rides all looking like they've been brought out of retirement for one last hurrah! And yet, the beach is clean, uncrowded and well supplied with the usual fair of junk food and novelty shops. Top tip, bring cash, no one seems to use plastic!

This beach is really clean and well run, beautiful golden sand and I would go back without a hesitation. Food available every where and no drunks spoiling the day, and well policed. Had a large pot of cockles, the tasteiest in my life, should have gone back for more, they were delicious. Makes places like Blackpool and Margate look like... More

This beach is really well run, beautiful and I would go back without hesitation! Golden sand. Clean and well ordered. Lovely beach huts to rent. Musicians were playing while we were there which added to the tranquil delight of this beachside. Food available and booze ban so no drunken buffoons spoiling the day. Glorious Welsh gem.

I grew up near here and have fond memories of the place. I always go visit the beach when I am visiting and it has changed a lot over the years. However it is still a place for the locals and tourists to visit and is a lovely day trip.

Went to the pleasure park on Saturday, was busy but had to wait about 10 minutes for each ride to fill up before they started the rides. There was no benches to sit on only picnic table's where people were eating or drinking. Husband enjoyed the rides and had fun would go again but would take seating to sit on... More

Now full of new rides new things to do. Its now more like a mobile funfair than a small pleasure park. Its not my thing some of these rides are fast but if thats what you like and your in Barry its worth visiting. Its not cheap, rides are token based and £30 gets you no where! Food isn't cheap... It indeed was a sunny day, heard lots of negative comments but all were proven wrong. It's a lovely place. Highly recommend for family dats out. Just bare in mind very little shops but ideal for family time on the beach and water. Very clean and tidy. People were naive and helpful.

Awful, tatty, brassy car park filled with fun fair and chips - Surely time should forget this appalling let down for the council's efforts on regeneration. Though, if you fancy a visit to the Third World, then this is for you. Demographics ultra low

Barry Island was once the destination of thousands of day trippers. Thanks to the local council, local businesses and people the Island is getting its attractiveness back every day that goes by. The sandy beach is super, the promenade has been cleaned up and new cafés opened. Beach huts and fountains and a climbing wall have been built. Seaside shops... More
