Porthkerry is a lovely country park tucked away in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. It is a large meadow surrounded by woodland, bounded by a pebble beach and with a cafe, children's play area and pitch and put area. I have utilised the area for dog walking, running and cycling and the terrain lends itself to excellent training. I have eaten... More

Woodland, check! Beach, check! Stunning scenery, check! With a little cafe, playpark & nature aplenty, Porthkerry is such a great visit for families - or anyone for that matter. Plenty of walking - & traversing the rocky beach, but if that's up your street, you'll love it here!

Despite the strong wind & rain, this very large park was full of people on a Sunday afternoon. There were walkers & dogs in the woodland, cyclists on the paths, fisherman by the beach & families in the play area. There were hot drinks & cakes for sale in the cafe. The sight of thousands of primroses in bloom along... More

Huge parkland with wooded and beach area. Can play your own games eg family cricket, rounders etc as we did or have a walk, play mini golf , walk on the pebbly beach or kids can play on the small play area. We took a picnic (popular choice) but there is a take away cafe and toilet block. You do... More

Been coming here for years to walk the dog and can honestly say I have enjoyed it every time. Big open spaces and plenty of woodland to run off puppy energy!

Small car park but a beautiful place, from the pebble beach to the deep woods and vast open spaces, so many walks and so much space it really is a quite remarkable place to be, peace and quite in a busy hectic world, it really is un spoilt and un touched.

We had been to Barry Island and saw the signs to this place. There is a lovely cafe that overlooks the park and walking area. The play area is all wooden and good for any age. There is plenty of walking to be done in the forest/park area. There is a path that leads up to the stoney beach. It's... More

This has something for everyone, beach and sea, acres of grounds for picnics and games, woodland walks, wildlife, history and a cafe. You really can't go wrong visiting here. there is a small carpark and it can get quite busy in the summer especially on nice days.

Visited, during half term, with our 6 year old on a cold, but sunny, February day. Small but engaging children's play area and a nice cafe with a deck. Very short walk to the beach and you can walk all the way to Barry Island. Good all year round but probably excellent in Summer.
