We visited Lake Vyrnwy for the cycling with our boys aged 11 and 9. It is a 12 mile perimeter cycle of the lake which is flat all the way round. The route follows the B4393 so there are cars but even over Bank Holiday weekend traffic was at a minimum. Car park is free and there is a picnic... More

Being from the "states", but having ancestors from Wales it was always my "bucket list" to see this beautiful country. Our visit was made even better by seeing this lovely, magical lake and staying at the wonderful hotel !

On our last afternoon and blessed with sunny weather we spent an enjoyable couple of hours at this lovely setting. Free parking, a tea shop where we bought some yummy ice cream and an RSPB hide right next to the tea shop. Saw several birds at the feeders and could have spent much longer here if we had time. Then... More

Very lovely location and with the RSPB centre it's well worth spending some of your day if not all of it in this area. There are guided walks, self guided, bird spotting and lots more things to do.

This is a huge lake which is very popular and rightly so. You can walk across the dam or cycle as far as your legs will take you around the shoreline roads. The roads are narrow in places and extra care should be taken when it's peak season. Lovely places around the lake to have lunch or enjoy a picnic.

a great place for walking and birdwatching, there are many places around the lake where you can spot some rarities, or just enjoy the countryside. Biking and boating also available.
