I spent a week in Lake Vyrnwy with my two boys (age 3 and 8). We had a great time exploring the Lake on bikes (hired from Artisans) and on foot. Our favourite by far was Bethania Adventure. Here Dave treated my eldest to as many water based activities that he could take! My lad loved canoeing, kayaking, going out... More

Lake Vyrnwy is a stunning reservoir set near to Bala lake. Try and go the lake on the back roads from Bala as the scenery is awesome. There is a road around the reservoir which is ideal for cycling and footpaths off the road for walkers. There are 3 hides owned by the RSPB around the lake which when I visited... More

The lake, actually a man made reservoir is set in a beautiful location, the road around the lake has many pull offs and each one offers a different view. You can cycle around the lake on your own bike or hire one on site, also if feeling energetic you can run, jog or walk around, but, remember it is approx.... More

We have been visiting the Lake for nearly 30 years. The family has 3 caravans on a nearby site. As you come around the bend for your first sight of the Lake it is truly breathtaking. The lake is around 11 miles in circumference so bear that in mind when contemplating a hike round it. At the dam end there... More

I'm tempted to say that Lake Vyrnwy is the best fishing hotel I've visited. But that should not put anyone off. The restaurant is first class. The facilities are good. The staff are friendly. It's good value

When the valley, which was home to my great grandfather, was drowned to provide water for Liverpool many were unhappy. Now, over 140 years later, it is a place to marvel at. The light is always changing and the architecture ( you can just imagine Lancaster bombers coming down to destroy the dam) adds to its grandeur. You can drive all... More

There is a wealth of things to enjoy in this truly lovely part of Wales. Walks and trails are well marked in various degrees of length and exertion and for all ages. The puzzle walk is ideal for example, for small children, but there are longer walks into the hills for adults. The RSPB shop has gifts, including plenty for... More

We spent an excellent afternoon here and could easily have been longer had we completed some of the RSPB way-marked walks. Leaflet showing walks of varying distance and difficulty available at the RSPB info office. We hired two bikes and a tandem (£10 per bike for 2hours) and cycled leisurely around the lake (approx 12m) which is all flat and... More

Went to the lake with my 2daughters and OH, what a beautiful place the views are amazing, there is also a good walk through a park with wooden sculptures which was nice and safe for the children to play, although I would recommend wearing walking shoes as I wore sandals and kept getting twigs etc in my shoes- the walk... The noise on Friday night thru Saturday early am ( 03/07 to 04/07 ) was appalling Screaming and shouting, doors banging until approx 3.00am Complaints at that time by hotel residents to reception unheeded Complaints to staff on check out completely ignored, not a hint of apology Ruined our short break
