Ideal for a walk (the dam is a great spot for photos), picnic or even just a drive round. Whether it was the emotion of the visit, but we have resolved to enter the lake Vyrnwy half-marathon next September just so we have an excuse to return!

Spectacular views but don't feel it is four star quality. Food okay but didn't cater for vegetarians who don't eat eggs. Hotel needs a refresh. Lovely staff but extra touches missing.

Beautiful lake- away from the crowds- so peaceful. Loved it I saw a picture of lake vyrnwy on the internet, and knew I must go to see it. It was everything I expected. It was a bit tricky to find- off the beaten track- but worth the effort

A little out of the way but well worth visiting, just the scale of the engineering is incredible but when you see the beautiful detail it really is a must to see.

Loved: scenery, especially the Falls above the lake, the birds, the autumn colours, the walks. Have always wanted to visit and will be back for more walking and birding!

This is a superb location to see wildlife and there are many walks you can do that go through the forests and hills.

We have visited Lake Vyrnwy a few times now and love it every time. There are lots of walks either on the flat or up hills and the lakeside road which is almost 12 miles long is worth doing in itself. The scenery is stunning and if you take the road either to Bala or Dinas Mawddy across the mountains... More

Its hard to imagine a 12 mile flat cycle anywhere in Wales, but if this is what you want you could do worse than go to Lake Vyrnwy. Usually with a flat cycle, it lacks views, but in this case, it couldn't be further from the truth. There are fantastic views of lots of hills and mountains. On top of... More

Plenty to see and do if you like the outdoors. Facilities at by the dam, which is a great viewpoint. At the top end of the lake is a walk upto the waterfall.
