Having spent a few days holiday in Wales with the family on the way home we asked each other which bit of the holiday we enjoyed most an all of us said Beaumaris Gaol , excellent , the audio system made it so much more interesting it was a fascinating insight into what prison life was like in those days... I went there with my dad and brother (a typical moody teenager who is reluctant to do anything at the moment) and we spent ages there! It was fantastic to look at how is was when it was in use and how things were done back then. There is the option to dress up if you want, and you are... More

We went as a combined trip to court and goal. There was plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

There was lots of detailed information to read and audio guides to listen to although we were given the children's version as all the others were in use. The gaol was not well signed and people were wandering around randomly. A logically marked route would have improved the experience. A worthwhile visit and very informative if rather depressing in its... More

Visited this goal as it is number 1 on Trip advisor and it was raining hard and needs somewhere indoors to go. Cost £15 for family ticket. Children 9 & 5 soon got bored. Audio scared my 5 yr old and quickly steered my 9 yr old out of the whipping room when realised what it was. Some of the... More

We decided to visit the gaol add the weather wasn't too great. On this visit our children were older and got a lot of of the audio tour, provided free of charge. There's not too much in the way of exhibits but if you listen to the audio descriptions is a) very atmospheric and b) takes a good couple of... More

We paid at the Courthouse to see both the Courthouse and the Gaol and boy was it worth it!!!! We did The Courthouse first and then a short walk up the town to the Gaol, again the staff were very friendly and informative - we had a great if not slightly creepy time, walking around the Gaol looking at the... Decided to give this a visit and it was well worth the money, want able to see all the parts as we were told there were seagulls nesting and could get dive bombed. You are provided with a talking book that tells you all about the place as you walk round and there are various exhibitions as well which gives... More
