Really enjoyed walking around this place. So much to see and lots of interesting information boards to read. Only thing I would suggest is maybe giving a map out to people because it's a big building and you can easily forget which way to go. Really friendly staff and a cute little gift shop on the way out.

We decided to go as the black clouds were looming overhead and needed somewhere dry . The building itself is quite impressive and each room had the original furniture & items so you got a really good idea of life behind the walls. There was also poster boards in some of the rooms giving you background information about the building,... More

This building situated just off the main centre was full of sad memories of prisoners in the 1800s told on large story boards through out the spartan cells . This place has hardly changed its - errie -dimly lit - cold - even on warm day outside . The punishment they gave out for the smallest error was frightening ,... More

never been to visit a prison before but this was a most interesting experience of days gone by. Quite cold in there but that added to the feeling. Loads of information too much to take in. Has the only surviving treadmill still in complete working order. Well worth visiting. There may even have been a relation of mine imprisoned for... More

We saw this on trip advisor and decided to visit. The gentleman at the desk suggested that we combine it with a visit to the courthouse which we did. It was absolutely superb. Great way to spend a few hours- a must see if in Beaumaris

Until we visited the Courthouse, we didn't know the Gaol was here. Our first impressions were that its cold and that it must have been a terrible place to be. It is unguided, you wonder around exploring. The Gaol is quite big so will take around an hour to get around.

I read one or two bad reviews on this but I found this cold dank place very much as it should be when once it held prisoners many been tortured and some executed. The history was brill and value for money, it only cost a fiver and you don't get much for that these days. So if you expect a... More

This was a great way to spend the afternoon, thanking my lucky stars! Tip... Admittance to gaol is £5 per adult, and £5 for the courthouse. if you book both together you get the courthouse for half price. £7.50 for the two. bargain! Because the court house with its handheld narrators was fascinating too!
