I visited the Gaol without any expectations as I'd been to Bodmin Gaol previously and found the attraction to be disappointing. At around £5 per head, this is a bargain really. The access available is brilliant and there is very little that is off limits. They aren't trying to be to tourist friendly, just presenting the information clearly and that... More

This gives a real insight into how life was 200 years ago. It is a must even if only to make you realise how lucky you are.

Great old disused prison, made to look like it did back in the 1800's with lots of cells brought back to life, to portray the grim prison life back then. Comparable (on a slightly smaller scale to Kilmainham Gaol, in Dublin) Definitely worth a visit

The grim, law breaking side of Welsh history is laid open for visitors to gape a frown at in this preserved site. Don’t expect glamour, the harsh realities of being on the wrong side of the law in the 1700s and beyond are exposed here and it is an eye-opening experience. The gaol does not incorporate any audio/visual aids, it... More

Great time spent wandering through the corridors and cells, and my wife and I were immersed in the history of the prison.

A very interesting if grim look back into very hard times in the past. In need of a little restoration, but well worth a visit.

The Goal is an interesting and atmospheric place which tries to tell the story of both the Goal and the social history of goals in general. In trying to do both it sometimes concentrates too much on executions- of which there were only ever two ( fortunately) in Beaumaris. The major drawback is that there is only one large map... More
