Really warm welcome and lovely to see the congregation doing their thing. I did struggle with the accents being an English girl but Al was brilliant, charismatic and witty. The adult choir only sang one song and they were great. Id have liked to hear more from them but i think the service was based around the youth on this... More

My husband and I really enjoyed Reverend Al Green's message and the gospel choir. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and made us feel like we were members of their church. I would definitely put this on your list of places to visit when in Memphis.

Tehre is a good vibrant feeling. Al Green has not lost his powerful voice, but it also turns out he has a nice, relaxed and pleasant attitude. Even if he should not be thre, the overall ambience is nice and if you have not seen a tabernacle before you will feel welcomed here. There were quite a few turist, but... More

On February 15, 2015, I attented the service thinking I might receive the good news of God. I was motivated to attend service but after leaving I felt like I was a part of a mockery. Al Green never preached and never open his Bible. He only quoted things out the Bible for his advancement. I believe the only reason... More

My fiancé and I were visiting from Ireland and heard about this Church because of its Al Green connection. We arrived just before 11:30am on Sunday morning and got a lovely warm friendly greeting, Al Green wasn't there but the talent and enthusiasm of the gospel singing is incredibly beautiful and thoroughly uplifting! When we were leaving we were both... More

I have not yet visit the Church but plan on so soon. Rev. Al Green Is what I grew up on listening to from my mother may our Father God rest her soul. But then I really can't say that because to be gone from the Flesh is to be present with our Lord. HALELULHAH !!!! But my reasons for... More

Ok.. i got to admit, i am normally not visiting any church. But as the trip to Memphis was meant for my parents i made an exception. My dad really wanted to see a gospel choir and because we were visiting Graceland it was the next thing to do. The church is only 10 minutes away from Graceland and of... More

If you are in Memphis on a Sunday, you should visit this Church. Every one is welcome, no matter what colour or faith. Bible class starts at 9.45, service at 11.30. Unfortunately, Al Green had been through a knee surgery 2-3 weeks prior to our visit. Therefore another pastor was there. But he did good. Singing, dancing etc, and the... More

Always wanted to see all the landmarks in the Walking in Memphis song and finally got to do that this weekend, ending with seeing Reverend Green at this church. We got lucky because he has been out for awhile due to medical issues. The singing was amazing, the band didn't miss a beat, everybody had a good time, the speakers... More

We are non-church goers from the UK. The congregation contained perhaps 25 regulars and about 80 tourists (virtually all white). Plenty of people taking photos (even though rev Green wasn't there on this occasion - I'm not sure they'd realised) with a few in tshirts and shorts. Most people were better dressed than this. Everything you would expect from a... More
