...put this on your to do list. I loved the replica of the Mississippi River. Although the museum and gift shop was somewhat dated, we came away with some new info about the river and its history.

Wonderful museum of the Mississippi river. Additionally the park has a scale model of the River. In warm weather you can wade the length! At one time there was also a pavilion with the Memphis Belle (legendary bomber from WWII whose crew flew a record number of missions and helped with the war (Harry Connick Jr. stared in the film))... Although the short monorail trip under the bridge is interesting and the scale replica of the Mississippi is quite good, unfortunately the entire site has seen better days. It seems that there has been no investment in this site for quite some times & it is showing its age. Needs a good upgrade on it to bring it to an... More

We had not planned on visiting this museum but wanted to go to Mud Island. We are so happy we did tour the museum. It was very well laid out and very informative in a fun way. The outside area was great as well. Really, not to be missed.

Never before have we ever been in a more filthy run down museum. We've been to museums in 3rd world countries that were cleaner than this one. I noticed that the nearby parking garage was dirty and filled with trash, but ignored that. The walkway to the museum was also dirty and litter filled. I ignored that too. What we... More

We were visiting Memphis as part of a long vacation with two teenage girls, coming up the Delta from New Orleans, thinking (and playing) the blues all the way. In the morning, before the weather turned as hot and steamy as forecast, and while Beale Street was just cleaning itself up from the night before, we parked at the garage,... More

My husband and I visited the Mud Island Museum mid-August. We came to Memphis to visit the National Civil Rights Museum as well as other attractions never really considering this museum. Boy are we glad we found it. It was very well laid out with lots of information about the early river boat days. They even have a full size... More

The museum is tired and dated just like the mini Mississippi River located right outside its doors. The museum did provide some interesting information regarding the history of the river and its many uses. We enjoyed the air conditioning as it was hot and humid the day we went.

Stayed an extra day in this city, to other things, and this riverboat cruise. Was too long and boring. There are so many other more interesting things to do in this vibrant city. It just seemed a right thing to do but would not recommend it.
