We enjoyed the monorail ride to the island. The museum could use a little vacuuming. Some of the displays needed attention. But it was informative. Bring your own water. $3.00 was a bit too much. REALLY.

Mississippi River replica was nice. Walking in the water was fun but be carefully, it can be rocky. Water shoes are best for this adventure. The museum was informative. Tram ride was fun.

First off we took the monorail from Front St over to Mud island for $4 a person. You can get a ticket for $10 that includes access to the museum there OR just walk over there for FREE. I think it was all of 3/10th of a mile to walk. The main part of the island is a model of... More

The river walk is incredible, but, I did notice the place is starting to age, repairs needed and some landscaping needed. Its still a great place and the views and history here are forgettable.

I got the warm fuzzies watching kids (and their families) absolutely delight in 'walking' IN the huge scale model of the Mississippi, complete with tributaries, eddies, branches, and scale model markers for major cities. What a great way to bring the story of the Mighty Mississippi to LIFE for these kids...actually SEE, FEEL, and HEAR The River! (Safe for toddlers--high... More

The statues and giant Memphis egg were cool. Parking good. Over all area needs maintenance. Clean bathrooms.

The best part of Mud Island is the scale model of the Mississippi. My daughter and I walked the river from Kentucky to Lake Pontchartrain. Having said that, the concrete surface of the river model is murder on bare feet, and its nooks and crannies almost seem designed for a broken ankle. The Mississippi river museum is fun and informative,... More

I think this is one of my favorite places in Memphis. The museum part is really cool, and part of it is a make shift riverboat. There is also a scale model of the Lower Mississippi River which is very cool to look at.

If you have the time it is a very cool couple of hours. Take the tram over and walk back over the pedestrian bridge on the way back for gorgeous views! We loved the museum inside with an interactive huge steam ship. Outside is a interactive model of the Mississippi River they you can walk in.

I had seen the red train on the show Memphis Beat. I said if I ever went to Memphis, I'd find it and ride it. The only way I could describe it was it was a red upside down train. I Googled things to do in Memphis and found the Mud River Island Monorail. It's a short ride across the... More
