This place must have been cool back in the day when it opened. Now it just looks tired and dated. As previous reviewers have commented, letters are missing from some of the states' names and bricks are missing from the walkways. I did see some new bricks being laid so maybe they're trying to spruce this place up. My 2... More

If you are visiting make sure you take the time to walk down to Front Street and take the walkway or even the travel vehicle. It is an area full of history. Facilities are the cleanest I have experienced. And the staff working there aare so friendly and helpful,

We were there on a chilly day in early May. A couple groups of school children still managed to enjoy wading in the model of "Old Man River." We walked the whole length of it, back and forth, which is a tad over a mile long. We were disappointed, though, that the snack bar was closed, because we had missed... More

Grandchildren loved the Memphis Bell & "jumping" the Mississippi River. Great to read Mark Twain after you go. They see the river still being used today as a highway to the American heartland. They loved the sky bridge.

This was a fun little stop on a hot afternoon. I would definitely recommend taking swim shoes for little ones because the "river" is pretty rough for your feet but we were able to still play without them. The monorail ride was short but fun for a 3 1/2 yr old. The museum is really awesome for history buffs. For... More

The museum itself is interesting but the absolutely best part is the scale replica of the Mississippi River from the northern borders of the US all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. We walked the whole thing and were very intrigued. It's a waterpark and outdoor attraction all rolled into one.

Our entire family enjoyed our trip to Mud Island (kids aged 6, 11 and 13). The tram ride is fun, the Mississippi River replica is fascinating with informative plaques along the way. It was a great experience for the kids, as they learned a bit and had fun splashing in the River replica. The museum is fantastic. The audio tour... More

This was by far the one thing my kids loved in Memphis! On a hot day the water was cool and refreshing on our feet. We put the shoes in the stroller and left them unattended with no problems. Walking the River gave us a chance to look at states and cities and literally cross bridges! While some of the... More

The river walk is fun. Plan to spend about two hours. You can walk across the river or ride a tram. We were there on a hot day, but you can put your feet in the "river" and some children were dunking themselves!

We expected to spend the day here, but the entire visit lasted just two hours. Highlight was the steamboat replica in the museum. A fun place perhaps to take kids on a hot day. They will enjoy walking in the water of the scale model of the Mississippi River.
