This was by far the one thing my kids loved in Memphis! On a hot day the water was cool and refreshing on our feet. We put the shoes in the stroller and left them unattended with no problems. Walking the River gave us a chance to look at states and cities and literally cross bridges! While some of the... More

The river walk is fun. Plan to spend about two hours. You can walk across the river or ride a tram. We were there on a hot day, but you can put your feet in the "river" and some children were dunking themselves!

We expected to spend the day here, but the entire visit lasted just two hours. Highlight was the steamboat replica in the museum. A fun place perhaps to take kids on a hot day. They will enjoy walking in the water of the scale model of the Mississippi River.

Relaxing, super peaceful stroll, break from normal rushing around. Squirrels were not afraid of people and highly entertaining.

We spent a half a day at Mud Island on our way back from Florida and it was well worth the stop. The museum is full of river and civil war history. The scale model of the lower Mississippi is also outstanding. The mono-rail was so-so. The trams were very stuffy the day we rode and the AC was struggling... More

My husband and I visited Mud Island fairly early before there were many visitors. We walked across on the footbridge which was a fairly short stoll. The concept was pretty neat, a scale model of the Mississippi with points of interest and historical references throughout. We did not go to the museum, but just walked along the river model. It... Learn about the great Mississippi river in their museum and alongside their scaled model of the river. Kids get a kick out of playing with the water and adults have fun reading the information panels. Oh and of course you can take some cool pictures !

I had known about this for years due to my interest in maps. You can walk the length of the lower Mississippi from St. Louis to the Gulf of Mexico. You can wade in the river where the underwater contours aren't too steep and view multiple historical markers on the way, indicating where towns slipped into the river or were... More

Yes, it's really gorgeous to be on the Mississippi River in an open air concert listening to James Taylor, but getting there is a drag. The only entrance into the parking garage is ONE LANE therefore 4 lanes of concert goers are crowding into one lane to get a ticket and then find a spot to park. I hadn't been... More
