You must take the River Walk in Memphis. It is a highlight. The reproduction of the Mississippi River with explanations of its importance and history is very impressive. Skip the msueum and take a leisurely tour down the Mississippi.

We were really excited about going here, but I have to day we were disappointed. I went ahead and rated it "very good" anyway because I'm guessing it has more potential and we just caught them on a bad day. It started with the parking. Nothing is marked very clearly at all and we could not find where we were... More

Fro just $10 the monorail trip hanging from the bridge from the mainland to the island plus entrance to the really well put together museum on the whole history of the river and the people and boats (from over 10000 years ago to today) is pretty good value. The scale model of the river is an impressive thing and although... More

The outdoor model is big, and there is lots of info posted about the river and it's tributaries. The musuem is deceptively large and comprehensive, spanning the earliest cultures on the river in dugout canoes through the twentieth century. Tram ride was neat too - all definitely worth the combo ticket price.

All of it was good. Cost $11 for the museum, monorail ride, river walk, and a guided tour at your request. It is pretty awesome to follow the river from Cairo, IL to the Gulf of Mexico. It is scaled down so the 954 miles that it is actually is about a 5 block walk. Very interesting and fun. There... More

General admission to the park is free and so is taking a “short” walk on the Skybridge. There is a $4 option for the five minute monorail ride. My husband and I opted for the ride since if you want to you can walk it it’s possible on the way back. But it was so hot and humid so we... More

I remember coming here as a kid 30+ years ago so brought the family for a quick day trip on our way home from St. Louis. The place needs some upgrades but is still very cool. The river walk is one of a kind and the museum is nicely done. Kids enjoyed splashing down the Mississippi from Cairo to the... More

This place is beyond explanation. Please check out photos on Google to get an idea of what this incredible "model" of the Mississippi River looks like. I am speechless. My kids had a great time playing in the water (bring bathing suits for the kids) and riding the monorail across the MS River to downtown. You could literally spend all... More

Looks like a great place to visit and had planned to go on a Monday. Unfortunately it is closed on Mondays and we left on a Tuesday. My advice is to research and know the days and times for the attractions you want to see.

We visited Mud Island, and bought tickets for the museum and river park. The museum itself is educational, but it is in desperate need of renovation and an upgrade. The river walk was great and got every nook and cranny of the Mississippi River and all the states it touches.
