Tucked under the bridge to St Louis on the banks of the Mississippi River, this place is a jewel. Enjoying a Tuesday evening extended hours, we toured the current fascinating exhibit of urban armament (silver, gold and brass knuckles were included.) Beautiful stuff. In the forge, we were given a demonstration of iron mongering showing how to make an ornate... More

loved the main buildings. Had all types of metal that you would wear. Chain Mail, steampunk outfits, dresses and jackets made completely of metal, ornamental brass knuckles made of everything but brass. The grounds have an excellent view of the Mississippi with all types of metal sculptures. This is an excellent place to visit. The only reason it didn't get... More

It was very interesting to go through. They had a lot of pretty pieces spread throughout the place and the area it is in is nice and quiet. This isn't a place where I would bring a little one though. They would get bored pretty quickly. I can see someone going there just to sit and enjoy the scenery and... More

I had never heard of this small museum, but was so glad we persevered (closed on Monday!). The special exhibit was wonderful, and very well presented. The museum is small, but watching the workmen creating these amazing pieces made it worthwhile.

They have some really interesting pieces here. However, it is a really small museum, and there's not a whole to see. Also, the exhibits do not have sufficient explanation to intrigue the average person. It does have a good lookout over the Mississippi river.

Wow!! What great artists. Turning found "stuff" into yard art. One day I would love to do something like this. The weekend we went they did not have a "yard art" class. One day I will return and get to get my hands dirty!!

The National Ornamental Metal Museum is one of Memphis' best kept secrets. You could spend 30 minutes just looking at the rosettes on the gates. The museum itself is small, which is great for quick visits or visits with older folks or anyone who doesn't get around too well. The main building has rotating collections, while another building houses their... More

My best buddy and I went last fall and had a great time. There aren't a lot of exhibits, but what is there is quite interesting if you are into metal art. The grounds are beautifully located on the banks of the Mississippi River. The view alone is worth it. In fact, it is not uncommon for people to get... More

This is a place we was not please with. We thought there will be more to it. If you like up to date on art this is the place. It is all in the person.

This museum is difficult to get to, and in a not so good part of town, but the exterior gates alone are worth the trip. The gift shop was closed for renovation which was a disappointment but we were not charged for the visit. Some interesting outside sculpture. Would be fun to visit on a much cooler day and take...
