Far more interesting than I was expecting. It's really all about artistic and sculptural architectural metal. Great exhibitions in the temporary exhibition space. And you can see their workshop where there's someone to answer questions about how they make things.

I visited amongst several groups of school children. At first I thought it would be a big hassle, but it proved to be enjoyable. Watching the artists working with metal was outstanding. The gift shop was also great for Christmas gifts.

This museum is a gem off the beaten path in Memphis, but, well worth it. The buildings are beautiful as is the location. The quality and the craftmanship of the artwork is outstanding. The views of the river are compelling. This museum is well worth the trip to find it and the quality of the artwork really sets this museum apart... More

Beautiful grounds overlooking the Mississippi River in a historic estate. The exhibit rooms are spacious. The artists are all over the map in terms of style. I tend to like the modern and unusual. The stuff that makes you think or laugh. Artists from all over the US. I loved it all. The gift shop is very nice. A little... More

We didn't know what to expect but we always like to try things that are 'different.' We were amazed at how much we enjoyed this place. They give you a map of the place and then you are free to roam the historical buildings. We will never look at a piece of wrought iron fencing or other metal items quite... More

My wife recently surprised me with a trip and picnic here. We loved seeing the amazing art and ironworks around the property, as well as the demonstration. The grounds and view are beautiful, and were perfect for an river-view picnic.

Once you admire the figures welded to the front gate, you've experienced the lion's share of everything interesting about the metal museum. Frankly, there are front lawns in middle class neighborhoods that are at least as interesting. The grounds are pleasant -- they were setting up for a wedding on the property when we visited -- but nice properties in... More

Small museum exhibition indoors and lovely garden to wander through with a variety of sculpture adding texture and contrast. The working smithy was a delight and run by very friendly staff who were happy to chat about their work. Live demonstrations are also available but check in advance for timings. Gift shop was wonderful! I just wish it had been... More

Tucked under the bridge to St Louis on the banks of the Mississippi River, this place is a jewel. Enjoying a Tuesday evening extended hours, we toured the current fascinating exhibit of urban armament (silver, gold and brass knuckles were included.) Beautiful stuff. In the forge, we were given a demonstration of iron mongering showing how to make an ornate... More

loved the main buildings. Had all types of metal that you would wear. Chain Mail, steampunk outfits, dresses and jackets made completely of metal, ornamental brass knuckles made of everything but brass. The grounds have an excellent view of the Mississippi with all types of metal sculptures. This is an excellent place to visit. The only reason it didn't get... More
