Great grub, excellent price point but the waiter (sweet nice bloke) was just asleep at the wheel... would still go here again!
The strip steak was outstanding and the ribs are great as usual. We totally enjoyed our meal. The side dishes are kind of standard. The portions are a little on large side but who can complain about that.
The Blues City Cafe is located on legendary Beale Street, across from BB King's. In a place with hundreds of choices of food AND music Blues City stands out for its friendly staff (the headliner the night I was there continually praised one waitress, "Chi-Chi," from the stage for her hard work), great food (the restaurant area's aroma is all... Live music was fun -- a lively band that played mostly oldies - Elvis, Jerry Lee - which was fun. And some good musicians. Very friendly service. Food was ok - I had expected more, based on reviews. First the good - tamales were tasty - we had some as appetizers. I had catfish; my husband the ribs. Catfish was... More
Here there was super music that kept your toes tapping while you ate great ribs that had been marinated and cooked long and slow. The bands engage the audience and the waiting staff are excellent.
We went on a saturday and it wasnt busy at all. a street begger actualy told us it was better than the Pig bbq place, so we tried it out and were impressed. It was a little high in price but it was worth every penny. Service was great by JUSTIN and the atmosphere is great like a small town... More

The sides were so small and didn't add anything to the meal. Came for lunch so perhaps may be better when there is a band here.
the place is really small, but the blues band we heard was great. I think they play there most weekends; their guitarist is especially good! it's a really nice place to kick back and listen to music. the bartenders don't bother you to order drinks. it's all about the music.
We ate here with our 3 kids based on Trip Advisor reviews and weren't disappointed. We arrived about 7 and had no cover charge for live music. We ordered the tamales with chili, gumbo, and the house sampler. Everything was excellent. Gumbo was tasty, but quite spicy which was fine with us. Cool atmosphere. Would go back. Cash ONLY!
We had traveled all day (8 of us) and it was quite late by the time we sat down to eat, so we were thrilled that our food came so quickly. The ribs were fabulous and those of us who had the catfish also thought it was great. Our service was outstanding. Because we didn't have to wait for our... More
