If you are looking for the best ribs and tamales in Memphis you have to get to Blues City Cafe. It is a classic Beale Street restaurant. Don't expect a lot of frills and it is a little dirty, but so is Beale Street, what do you expect? Anytime we are near Memphis we always go for ribs, it is... More

My husband loves ribs, so we ate here on recommendation. It was filthy! Ribs were good, but you just don't look around! Floors, tables, walls were grim. The toilets were disgusting for USA, where they are usually amazingly clean. I'm not a pork fan so had the gumbo which I would say was only ok. Have had much better in... More

We were in Memphis from California for a first visit. Someone recommended Blues City and it made our trip, it was high energy and there was a mixture of locals and tourists. We were here on a Sunday evening - part of a coach party mixed US and UK people. Food is good but you go here for the atmosphere of the venue and Beale St generally. The Cafe delivered and the band - The Memphis 3 - were outstanding. You felt they were playing for you and really out to please.... More

While the molasses-styled barbecue (true Memphis bbq) was just OK (everyone has their own style of sauce they prefer), the ribs were meaty and cooked to perfection. If you only have one night to eat in Memphis, this is the place to do it.

We walked from our hotel to Beale St. Decided to try this restaurant for dinner. It was delicious. Ribs fell off the bone and very tasty. Our server was very attentive and suggested what sides to try. He even gave us a bottle of barbecue sauce to take with us. Unfortunately, we were not there at the right time for... More
