My husband loves ribs, so we ate here on recommendation. It was filthy! Ribs were good, but you just don't look around! Floors, tables, walls were grim. The toilets were disgusting for USA, where they are usually amazingly clean. I'm not a pork fan so had the gumbo which I would say was only ok. Have had much better in... More

We were in Memphis from California for a first visit. Someone recommended Blues City and it made our trip, it was high energy and there was a mixture of locals and tourists. DEFINATELY buy their seasoning, the bartender offered a taste on the potatoes and we LOVED IT! The ambiance was totally old school jazz, loud, friendly, and excellent ribs!... More

We were here on a Sunday evening - part of a coach party mixed US and UK people. Food is good but you go here for the atmosphere of the venue and Beale St generally. The Cafe delivered and the band - The Memphis 3 - were outstanding. You felt they were playing for you and really out to please.... More

While the molasses-styled barbecue (true Memphis bbq) was just OK (everyone has their own style of sauce they prefer), the ribs were meaty and cooked to perfection. If you only have one night to eat in Memphis, this is the place to do it.

We walked from our hotel to Beale St. Decided to try this restaurant for dinner. It was delicious. Ribs fell off the bone and very tasty. Our server was very attentive and suggested what sides to try. He even gave us a bottle of barbecue sauce to take with us. Unfortunately, we were not there at the right time for... More

The food was so good! We had the ribs. Great sides.... Food came out steaming hot--even at 1 in the morning!

We went to Blues City Cafe about a year ago shortly after moving to Memphis. Ribs were dry, hard to cut even with a knife and did nothing to live up to their fall-off-the-bone hype. Gave it one more try recently. Still terrible. I watched the cooks prepare the ribs. The slabs were sitting in a pan, pre-cooked, waiting to... More

Lonny was a great waiter. Made the experience (do have the ribs) fun. THE MEMPHIS 3 were off the charts fantastic. All the favorite songs by Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry!! Had waitress dancing on the bar. Doors open and the crowd in the street jitter-bugging while they waited for a table. Major highlight of our visit.

It was so convenient to our hotel and Beale Street that we had to try it. We had the ribs. The meat was cooked to perfection, and if we hadn't been to three other BBQ places in town, I may have given it a 5. But the sauce was not my favorite and the beans and cole slaw were just... More
