I've been waiting days to get home to write this. The Memphis Blues Society sponsors "Blues Boogie" night on Sundays at the Cafe. It's an open-mike affair where local blues artists (there are a few of 'em in the area) sign up for some stage time. Starts at 7pm. Be on-time as the music is outstanding and all blues artists... Rum Boogie is fun! Many intimate seats near the stage, or even upstairs looking down. The house band blew us away - amazing blues and southern musicians who perform music you can't stay still to. The wait staff is local, friendly and generous. We just snacked, but found the gumbo to be very tasty. I will say, the fried pickles,... More

While in Memphis, we had to hear some live music. We chose the Rum Boogie Café. The live band was really good and the appetizer sampler was awesome. The smoked wings were top notch and the service was attentive and fun.

Not much to look at on the inside. It was dark and loud when we came in. But it sure didn't take long to feel right at home. The Blues band that was playing that night was so good, guitar, vocals, harmonica, saxophone and drums. It was a perfect place to go on Beale Street. Food was really good and... More

We've been in here twice so far since our arrival in Memphis and it's a great place to go for some live blues on a night. The musicians we've seen so far have been fantastic and there is a great ambiance in the place. Make sure to check out all the guitars of different musicians hanging down from the ceiling!

We stopped in for lunch, a little late, so it was not very busy. The staff were so friendly and the food was tasty. We checked out all the guitars and watched as people came in and took pictures by the stage. It is a great place to people watch!

Ist night in memphis and we'd just had a great meal in the blues cafe. We wandered down beal st and into the rum boogie cafe. The bouncer stopped us and asked for I.D. we're both over 50 and British so I explained that our passports were in the safe. The man wouldn't look at us and just repeated I.D...... More

We stopped in around 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were awed by a performance by Pam and Terry. Originally we just went in to check out all the guitars they had hanging around. Then the music started and it was obvious that we weren't going anywhere for a while. I have no doubt that other bands are excellent too,... More

Sensational blues music from start to finish, it's almost impossible to leave this place as each artist we heard was better than the previous ones. The atmosphere is incredibly authentic, drinks reasonably priced and just quite simply a slice of blues heaven..

Spent 3 nights in Memphis and ended up at the Rum Boogie every night. A wonderfully eclectic list of musical talent that you would be foolish to miss. we saw a line up of the best semi professional blues musicians to the most outstanding amateurs. Fabulous every night, a venue not to be missed
