The boat was very fast and safe. Took us out in time to be sure that the opposing tides which make the whirlpool were at the full flood. Saw the various wildlife on the way

We did the Venture-West boat trip to Corryvreckan Whirlpool and had a fantastic afternoon. The boat was very comfortable with an inside option if you want to get out of the wind, but we were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, so spent most of the time outside. There is a toilet on board, but very small of course.... More

we trekked to the CorryVrekan, which is a must if you visit Jura. the actual walk is about 7 miles( EACH WAY ). you arrive with the car on a cart track, which is not too rough, easily doable wit ha normal car. we did it with a normal car, not an offroad. you park where you find a sign... More

The boat ride out to Corryvreckan Whirlpool (3rd largest in the world, I think) takes about 3 hours round trip. The whirlpool itself is amazing, but the real fun is in the ride out and back. We saw seals, golden eagles, and any number of other birds. The scenery is lovely -- including the house on Jura where George Orwell... More

We first heard about the amazing Corryvreckan Whirlpool when watching the BBC Series - Three Men in a Boat. When we were planning our trip to the UK we decided to search out the boat which was used in the filming of this show, and follow their trip. Venture-West is a small business (with 2 boats) and we were lucky... More

I visited the Gulf of Corryvrekan in September and am glad to say that we didn’t see the whirlpool! We’d gone there deliberately at slack tide, so the whirlpool would be ‘asleep’ as the trip I was on was for Swimmers. The boat took us out from the mainland accompanied by dolphins for part of the trip, and we headed... More

On a recent trip when we stayed at Ardfern we planned to do the boat trip to see the Corryvreckan Whirlpool. There were only 5 of us booked on the trip so very much a personal trip. The weather was a bit wet and windy and yes we got covered in sea spray which was all part of our adventure.... More

A truly exhilerating experience, and an amazing 2 hours. 2 Rigid inflatable boats, each with 12 passengers, a skipper and a guide power out from Easdale, south of Oban to visit the gulf of Corryvreckan between Jura and Scarba, via the Grey Dogs strait between Scarba and Lunga. The row of islands here- Islay, Jura, Scarba and Lunga form a... More

During our week's holiday at Oban, we took a "Sea-Fari" adventure cruise down to the Corryvreckan whirlpool. Despite being late autumn, the weather was fine, but we heeded the advice given by the man who took our booking, and wrapped up warmly. We were issued with waterproofs and a lifejacket, prior to leaving on the RIB (rigid inflatable boat). We... More
