Owner description: Mar Lodge Estate occupies nearly 7% of the Cairngorms National Park, covers some of the most remote and scenic wild land in Scotland, including four of the five highest mountains in the UK. Within its boundaries are fine examples of classic features of a Highland landscape: remnants of the ancient Caledonian pine forest, heather moorland, juniper scrub and a part of the high Cairngorm plateau. Fifteen of the Trust's 46 Munros can be found in the Cairngorms around Mar Lodge. The estate is recognised as one of the most important nature conservation landscapes in the British Isles: over 40% of the estate is covered by national and international nature conservation designations.

It was a nice drive along the river with a fantastic waterfall at the end. A few steps to get nearer to the river and ample parking.Very scenic. We saw some deer.

What a location and lodge. The barn is amazing to look at if you like the look of deer skulls. The whole inside roof and walls are covered with them! Certainly a mouth dropping impression when you walk in.

We were lucky enough to be visiting Mar Lodge for a family wedding and it was truly amazing. Highly recommended. Other reviews mention the Lodge and the Ballroom which are fantastic. I wanted to mention the walk around the punchbowl at Linn of Quiosh, it is quite amazing. The walk detailed on the notice board next to the parking area... More

Spent a day here as part of a Ramblers Walking Festival. We had some guided walks around a small part of the estate as it is a huge area of land and open to the public. We were also fortunate to get entry to Marr Lodge which is only open to the public on 2 days a year. The highlight... More

One of the most beautiful places in Scotland. Lovely scenic drive up to the Lin of Dee, where you will find a dramatic waterfall/ gorge, visible from the road, well worth the drive. One of the best waterfalls in Scotland..plenty of walking in the area also.
