This place is at the back of the queens hotel and entrance can be hard to find. I don't drink ale so can't comment on the beer. I did try the raspberry cider which was nice and bramble beer which was ok. It was the character of this place that I loved. It does need a dust down but very... More

Fantastically cozy little pub with a great atmosphere. Lots of wonderful drinks, seasonal and year-round. The raspberry cider is unbelievable.

My husband and I just took the groupon tour. It was excellent, very knowledgable and friendly staff, very tasty stovies and the ale was amazing- my particular favourites were ginger pot and bramble pot We also found out that the pub is dog friendly, we will be back with our puppy very soon, who loved the hops dog treats we... Taken to visit by a local. Wouldn't have found it otherwise. A wonderfully hidden gem. There were about half a dozen in-house beers. I tries the bramble ale, yes, it is colour of berries, delicious. I sipped on the banana ale, also very fine. There are more traditionally tasting ales too. Tasting samples flowed freely to encourage trying different ones.... More

First visit here in a year and boy has it went downhill. The ales were terrible with a very off putting eggy smell. Never again. We were in a group of 4 of which 2 of us drink ale often and we tried a few of what was available and not one of them was satisfactory in my opinion as... More

I was there with some friends, I just wanted to show them around the brewery and have a couple pints. It was very quiet, 4-5 people near the fireplace. We are all ale fans, but the ales served there were badly oxidised, out of date, with sulphide smell (very unpleasant!). We had a look at the brewery, which is situated... More

Please go here. For yourself, for a loved one, for any reason, you will not regret it! Hidden away from the main street, this small brewery is loaded with charm and delicious flavours. I recommend the 1488 whisky beer and the double espresso beer - both are absolutely delicious and available bottled. Spent a good few hours here the other... More

Tucked behind the back of the Adamo Hotel nestles the Allanwater Brewhouse. The pub, which is wonderfully decorated with dusty bottles of beers and ales, houses a micro-brewery that produces delicious hand-crafted brews such as Mango Ale and the crowd-pleaser Bramble. Tours are available, but it is also just as good as a pub (free tastes on request).
