Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts Troon Golf Club soon outgrew its purely local reputation. The Old Course today presents a stern golfing examination and in particular the inward half of Royal Troon is widely accepted as the most demanding of any Course on the Championship rota. The Open will return to the Ayrshire coast in 2016 when the 145th Championship is played at Royal Troon. Golfers the world over vie to play Royal Troon's famous courses and we encourage visitors to experience one of the most demanding Championship courses on the circuit. Visitors are most warmly welcomed at Royal Troon Golf Club from mid-April until mid-October each year on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays.

This was our first round of golf in Scotland. It didn't rain on us and we were there just after The Open at St Andrews where they canceled a round due to the wind and rain. So we got better than the big boys did. We did however play in full rain gear due to 25-35 mph wind. The rough... More

The course was not as tough as expected nor the greens as fast but it is a great experience and if you are offline you are severely punished, the bunkers are all punishing and at least a one shot penalty. The eighth bunkers are particularly tough.

We were a group of eight golfers and the Royal Troon was one of ten courses that we played. Our weather was fabulous and the course was in top condition. We loved the layout and while the course was challenging we enjoyed the experience of this amazing links course. Half of our group are high handicappers while the rest are... More

On the banks of the River Clyde and views of the Scottish islands, this links course is awesome. If the weather is good, this course is an unforgettable experience. In the summer months recommend you wear anti midget spray as they can really nip. The golf staff and facilities are excellent. You could extend your visit by staying in the... More

Royal Troon is all it should be. Got to play with my oldest daughter (who thoroughly whooped me). Played Old Course and did well the first many holes then the wind started doing horrible things to my slice. For such a benign beautiful course it can eat your lunch! I felt deflated when I put two o.b. on railway until... More

Beautiful Golf Course. Plenty of history and tradition. Windy and difficult. Personnel at the Golf Shop, the Starter and the Caddies are very friendly. Makes you have a wonderful golf experience.

This is one of my favorite courses of all times. We played it on a cold, windy day with a little rain at times. We had a local caddie that made a world of difference. I don't think we could have played the course without his help. I actually had three birdies including the famous Postage Stamp hole. Who wouldn't... More

Well I can strike another thing off my golfing bucket list. One of the top golf experiences I've had yet. Awesome links course, front to back, all aspects of the game came into play, wind, rain, deep pot bunkers and speedy greens. Make sure you adapt to the conditions, hood over your club if it's windy, otherwise you'll find yourself... More

On a day trip to Troon we decided to pop in to the club house as my husband is a keen golfer and wanted to see whether he would like to play this course in the future. We had our 2 children with us and were dressed in casual attire so I can understand that it was not possible to... More

Wow what a great golf course if you are in the area and play golf you must pay a visit. The course is well laid out and is always kept in great condition as you would expect from a great championship course
