Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts Troon Golf Club soon outgrew its purely local reputation. The Old Course today presents a stern golfing examination and in particular the inward half of Royal Troon is widely accepted as the most demanding of any Course on the Championship rota. The Open will return to the Ayrshire coast in 2016 when the 145th Championship is played at Royal Troon. Golfers the world over vie to play Royal Troon's famous courses and we encourage visitors to experience one of the most demanding Championship courses on the circuit. Visitors are most warmly welcomed at Royal Troon Golf Club from mid-April until mid-October each year on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays.

We were fortunate enough to get a taste of this historic links on our tour. Probably had the most dreadful weather of the entire trip which spoilt the fun, but still a wonderful golfing experience. Host venue of the 2016 Open, I can't wait to see the pros battle it out on this challenging lay out. The postage stamp is... More

My Wife described fully the NON reception/Greeting at Troon---I had telephoned prior to arriving ---to enquire about golf and knew that two days ahead Tee-Times were available. I WAS escorted out of the lounge ( not improperly dressed ---on the contrary our attire appeared to be more than the norm) YES this male employee all but took my elbow to... More

We have just returned from a golfing week in Scotland and whilst in the Troon area thought we would pop into Royal Troon, make enquiries about playing the course and partake of some refreshments. We entered the Bar/Refreshment area to enquire about this possibility. We were met by a lady who looked me up and down as though I had... More

Fantastic course. Was lucky enough to be invited as a guest by a good friend. The day was perfect, the course excellent and the staff in the Club extremely friendly and professional. Thoroughly enjoyed my day out.

This is a wonderful historic golf club as well as being the venue for the Open Championship in 2016. The Old Course is a very stiff test of golf with only the straight drive being safe (usually). Very well bunkered and some of the best links greens I have seen. The signature Postage Stamp hole is a real toughie. As... More

Played this course last week, lovely course but the staff did not do the course justice.Only interested in getting money from your wallet and after if you complain its just ignored. If your down this way go to Turnbery you will be better looked after than Troon.

My wife and I played at Troon at the beginning of June and it was a mixed experience. The Club has a magnificent clubhouse and the staff ( with one notable exception) were all very friendly and helpful. We were not enthusiastic about being paired up with a couple of strangers but luckily the two American gentlemen concerned turned out... More

Extremely welcoming and what an awesome golf course. They have relaxed their rules on visitors days which allows you to wander freely around the magnificent clubhouse.

One of the top courses in the world lived up to it's reputation in terms of the golf course itself but also the friendliness of staff, restaurant, etc. Royal Troon overlooks the Firth of Clyde and has the main train line to Glasgow go right past the course. In fact the #1 handicap hole that runs entirely next to the... More
