We live very close to buchanty and often go there picknicken and puddling in the river which can be very fast flowing. Watch your step here, rocks get very slippery, my naughty Sons, age 22,24 go swimming there, it is not really allowed and not recommended but they say its absolutely brilliant. The salmon jump in autumn and a great... More

Buchanty Spout is on the river Almond, just off the B8063. There is a small car park on rough ground. The Spout is a very short walk along the edge of the woods. The path was muddy and a bit slippery, so I recommend shoes or boots which have a good grip. There are also some rocks to negotiate before... More

Stopped off with the kids after heavy rain following a dry spell, could not believe the amount of fish we saw making their way up the spout. Beautiful scenery, you could sit there all day. Be beware it is very slippery.

Great place to see, even the kids were impressed. Easy to find and only a short walk from the car park.

Lots of rainfall yesterday so fast flowing water. Dry and sunny today but the path was still a bit muddy and slippery. When we got there about ten other people were standing watching on the rocks. Stood for abut 20 minutes and at first thought we were not going to see any salmon. Saw about eleven. Just great!

We've been many times to this spot and when the salmon are running it's the most fascinating experience to see them jump the waterfall. How they can do it is just amazing. Go and enjoy.

Not as amazing as other reviews had made it out to be but maybe due to lack of recent rainfall. Didn't see any salmon. Easy to find but very slippy path down to it. A peaceful spot though

A lovely wee spot, tranquil spot where salmon are seen to be jumping at the right time, but even when not, a site to see. Bit slippery underfoot when wet, wear appropriate footwear and enjoy the sights.

I loved it. I saw salmon jumping about everywhere, it was quiet and serene despite there being a bunch of people there, and it's just really cool. I found myself cheering the salmon on. Best bit is, it's not an aquarium or artificially set up attraction. It's just nature and there's no entrance fee. :)
