I travelled out to the isle of may on the 14th of July. As I was going to be working on a project with the island staff I had a lot of gear to transport. I found the staff to be incredibly helpful with loading it on and off the boat and also directing me in a good place to... More

Two days ago a friend and I took the May Princess to the Isle of May. We had booked the tickets via email a few weeks in advance and picked them up on the same day about an hour before sailing time. The boat is fairly small and has mostly seats outside, so I'd recommend taking a coat and maybe... More

This is a beautiful island and well worth going to, even if you have a limited interest in the birds. The cliffs and the scenery and the peacefulness of it can't even be described in words. Beware of the boat trip, though - they pack you in like sardines. I would gladly pay twice the amount for half the amount... More

If you are like me and love seeing animals in the wild, I recommend this trip for you. On the approx. 1 hour trip out to the Isle of May, we saw porpoises. On the 3 hour visit to the island, we saw literally THOUSANDS of birds: arctic terns, guillemots, kittiwakes, razorbills, and (my favorite) puffins. The only thing that... More

First off: if the crew say it's going to be choppy...it's going to be choppy. We didn't really take proper note of that warning and not really being seafaring types...well, I hope the sound effects didn't ruin anyone else's trip. Of course, the (very friendly and reassuring) crew wouldn't have taken us out if it had been dangerous and we... More

The cruise takes you around the Isle of May and gives you ~3 hours on shore to explore the wildlife. So many amazing birds: puffins, eiders, terns, shags, gannets, razorbills, guillemots. Seals in the water. The staff of the May Princess are fantastic and the volunteers/workers on the Isle are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The new visitor/education centre and toilets... More

Great trip under `swelly` conditions - captain did a fantastic job. Birds on island amazing - Puffins just incredible feeding young. Time to wander on island to get close up look at habitat

Great place to see many seabirds. This is the second time we have been on the May Princess. The crew are very helpful and friendly and it is only a short trip to the island. Good footpaths and excellent opportunities to see the puffins and other seabirds. The visitor centre is now open and be prepared for the Arctic terns... More
