A good day out, lovely house and grounds but a bit challenging if you have problems walking, lots of stairs.

Fantastic afternoon here wonderful new gardens. Very nice cafe but very very busy. Lovely walks, gift shop pricey but a good range. Did not go in the house but will next time.

Just spent a most enjoyable afternoon at Dumfries House with a party of close friends. It really is a must for locals and visitors alike. It does not bear thinking about what might have become of this beautiful house, were it not for the intervention of Prince Charles. The final accolade however, must go to the enthusiastic staff. Carol and... More

I have visited Dumfries House 3 times and each time I find out more about this beautiful house. The tour is very informative, deivered by guides who have a real passion for the house. Rooms have been exquisitely restored and a great deal of thought and care has gone into making the house feel like a family home; not too... More

The house's Classical/Palladian exterior is stunning although the new circular fountain at the front is out of keeping with the house. Maybe it will look better when finished. The restoration of the house and grounds... More

We booked a tour of the House. A preliminary DVD from Prince Charles set the scene, after which an excellent tour guide took us round. He was very informative. It was great to see such a magnificent collection of Chippendale and other furniture. Well worth going to.
