This as most of you already know is the pet project of Prince Charles, we often go on a Sunday to walk the dogs ( must be kept on the lead ) this summer they opened the walked garden which is massive and really well carried out, it will when mature be stunning when everything has grown, there are good... The house is interesting as it has many original Chippendale items, there was an excellent guide who took us through the many rooms which had been sympathetically and expensively restored, the house is large and is surrounded by a large estate. The trees are very beautiful and in the grounds there are other places to visit, the Rothesay and Woodland... More

Excellent tour round part of the restored house. Our guide was both interesting and informative and tour takes 1 hour. Had coffee and cake at the cafe which was very reasonable and the cake was delicious! Then a walk round part of the grounds. The children's play area looked good ! Next time we will visit the newly opened wall... More

Finally visited Dumfries House. A remarkable place. Beautiful parkland and a lovely setting. Great kids playground right next to a good coffee shop / restaurant. Enjoyed walking in the grounds, the walled garden is a real delight. Very informal and welcoming. An oasis in a desert and we'll worth a visit.

Went with my mother for a quick lunchtime bite to eat at the cafe. We were very impressed. Can't wait to get back to make full use of grounds and see around the house. The formal fining area looked great and did a great Sunday roast.

We spotted the sign for the house, on our way back to the cottage we were renting. We are so glad we did.My partner wasn't well enough for the house tour (one for next time), so we had a coffee at the cafe. The food looked amazing, so much so he had a piece of cake. The prices are reasonable... More

we popped in for a visit today 15 August 2014 , a lovely walk round the grounds , but its all wee stones and I suddenly realised if I bring my mum here for a visit we would be stuck in these wee stones with her wheelchair . UNLESS others have been and done it and can reassure me that... More

I have been here a few times in the past, both before and after the Duke of Rothesay rescued the house and estate. The first impression is the truly astounding amount of work that has been done to bring the place back to life. I well remember for instance wandering around the old and utterly ruinous saw mill - now... More
