Stunning

Spent the afternoon here . It's absolutely beautiful. Gardens are immaculate and some of the best kept gardens I've ever seen . Will definitely be back soon .

called here last Sunday. Magnificent gardens which are a few weeks away from bursting into a mass of colour so I may have to visit again next month. Toured the house which is very impressive and toured the ground floor and viewed some of the Chipendale furniture. The cost was 9 stg which was reasonable value but I would have... More

We spent an afternoon here and wish we had had longer to see the gardens. The house is beautiful with some very interesting things in it.A guided tour is a must .The guide we had was excellent and so knowledgable. There is an introductory video to watch as you enter the house of Prince Charles telling you about how he came to... We spent a sunny afternoon walking the gardens and woods at Dumfries House. The walled garden is especially interesting as it has been transformed from a unkempt neglected garden into something beatiful and serene. Praise indeed needs to go to Prince Charles and his vision that is slowly taking shape. Good food also available at the transformed stable block. Definitely... More

Wonderful history, world's best collection of Chippendale furniture, a place in which area young people are learning trades, glorious grounds, excellent docent guided tours.

The transformation of Dumfries House and the surrounding estate is testimony to the important part royalty can play in preserving our heritage. Until Prince Charles stepped in and stopped the removal vans this wonderful estate was going the way of so many others. Now it is a vibrant, exciting, and inspiring presence in an area which over the years has... More

This is a wonderful house and has been so well restored. Pity the grounds are so scrubby, but plants take time to grow. The restaurant was OK, service OK too. The guided tour was the best we have ever had in Scotland, they should be proud!

This must be a secret known mainly to locals. Wow what a setting! Alas, it is only open Thursday-Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch, with bookings (before 5pm) via Dumfries House. But, if those constraints fit - do try it! Unusual ambience (like a giant home dining room with its own small bar) and food from impressive kitchens staffed by catering... More

What a fantastic house. Considering the estate was run-down a few years ago and priceless furniture was to be sold, the Prince's Trust have done marvellous work.Well preserved interiors and furniture - Chippendale with a Gainsborough picture (for you to find) and other well known Scottish and British painters. The Grand Tour is a must (book on line for guaranteed... More
