Not a typical tourist destination but a very nice spot, particularly if you are traveling with children

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit with a friend who has mobility difficulties. We both have a keen interest in photography. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and made the provision of a mobility scooter so easy for my friend. As a result there were no areas which were inaccessible for us. Well done Castle Espie. Lots of wild birds to... More

A great day out with 2 young children. The wildlife was lovely to see up close. Great layout and design- could spend the whole day there. The best part was the outdoor adventure areas. Children getting back in touch with nature, learning whilst having fun! The staff were very helpful and friendly (even fishing my child's hat out from the... More

The Secret Swamp is the new addition to the educational attractions at Castle Espie. A perfect spot for the kids to explore, learn and let off steam. The management at Castle Espie are clearly thinking outside the box when it comes to protecting the beautiful environment at this location while providing an excellent morning/afternoon of family entertainment and education (or... This is a Wetland, and an unusual at that. Multiple species of geese and ducks are bread and kept there. It is a real treat to see so many birds happily live there - not quite a zoo but a great alternative to it. Sought out something soothing after visiting Belfast and this was just what we needed. I visited today with a 4 yr old and a 9 yr old both of whom had a great time feeding ducks and playing in the two rather mucky play areas. We were lucky with the weather especially as this summer has been wet and cool, I definitely would not want to visit on a wet day. I knew this... More

This was our first time visiting castle Espie while in the area, would highly recommend it was a brilliant day out our 8 year old loved it and I am defiantly hoping to return in the future. Everything about it was excellent from the area where you can feed the various ducks and geese which was lovely to see so... More

Kids love this place. Good cafe to chat and let the day go by. Very child friendly and informative. For serious watchers there is a hide over looking the mudflats.

We love seeing the geese and ducks and their young, as well as walking round the grounds, but recently the black headed gulls, an endagered species seem to be omnipresent and raucous indeed.

Came here yesterday with 9yo And 4yo and their nanny. Boys had a ball doing wee hunt feeding the ducks. Best time was had in the woodland play area, boys loved it. Two very tired boys last night One happy Mummy ☺

Great place to get up close and personal with birds. For a small fee you can get some seed to feed the ducks, enjoy the fantastic views from the various hides over looking Strangford Lough and lagoons. Food is quite dear, would recommend bringing a packed lunch. Great place to see waders.
