Very nice gardens, peaceful. There is a really nice cafe, with great homemade cakes. In July and August the house is open during the week, we didn't have time to do that as the tour takes 40 mins.

Mapperton is an utter gem: one of the most beautiful gardens in England, a beautiful church and a delicious and friendly tea room. We didn't go around the house, but the extraordinary Italian garden is like something out of a film: I have seen it in brilliant sunshine and a sea mist. It remains just as wonderful in either.

Very sad looking gardens in need of a lot of TLC. They could be beautiful, and colourful, but needed a lot of attention. Not a gardener in sight. I know they are the gardens to a private house, but so is mine and it looks a lot better. The charge of £6 each to get in was a bit over... More

What a delight. Gardens on different levels with a variety of themes with "secret" places to just sit and enjoy the view or sit and read or contemplate.

Spent a lovely day here, gardens are so beautiful and peaceful. Lots of tempting little paths to wander and explore and seats well placed to enable you to relax and take in the views. There is an excellent cafe with a good selection of food all reasonably priced and the staff are amazing and so friendly. Planning to take more... More

This is our first visit to Dorset and we have visited a few other gardens in the area but Mapperton is by far our favorite. We will be coming back on our next visit to Dorset and be recommending to all our friends.

Mapperton Gardens is a romantic valley garden deep into a lost Dorset combe among tumbling hills and unspoiled countryside. The gardens descend from the croquet lawn, through the formal topiary down to the wild garden. The manor house with its church, stable block, coach house, dovecote and courtyard is a glorious harmony of golden sandstone and stands on level ground... More

Perhaps it was the time of year, (early spring), the garden was poor and in need of much TLC. I t was also quite small and perhaps not good value for money?

The cafe at Mapperton Gardens is very basic seating wise, but the food is amazing. The staff are always helpful and friendly, the coffee is refreshing and the BLT is to die for!

These are beautiful Gardens, tucked away slightly, off the beaten track, but very well kept and definitely worth a visit. There is a small shop and light refreshments available
