A wonderful - some might say - outrageous house. Well worth a visit but completely over the top! Built by a very wealthy lace maker who was a classic member of the nouveu riche. Wonderful, wonderful gardens. Quite stunning! Please visit! My only negative comment sounds pathetic, but the restaurant serves some very nice ales, but at a sub-zero temperature! Come... More

You have to visit this place if only for the gardens. They are superb. So many features are totally breathtaking. Oh and the house is okay too.

My wife & I visited Knightshayes for the first time in many years. The staff were all lovely, very helpful, & the gardens & house made for a very enjoyable experience. We decided to have lunch in the restaurant before making our way to the gardens.I ordered a 'Frittata, whilst my wife ordered a 'Harvesters Lunch'. When the food arrived,... More

We visited Knightshayes in February when there was a limited number of rooms open to the public but had a really lovely day out. From the moment we arrived the staff and volunteers went out of their way to be kind and helpful. Everyone we encountered was very knowledgeable and were able to talk to us in an interesting and... Expected this visit to last an hour or two but stayed much longer even though too early in the year to see the gardens at their best. The house proved to be more interesting than I expected and as normal the Nat Trust Staff were superb. The food was a little on the expensive side but well worth it as... More

Gardens were spectacular & house also interesting, such a shame the original plans for the interior designs were not followed through on by the owners at the time - it would have been fantastic to see. Lovely walks through the gardens & wooded areas.

As the National Trust Members book says - one of the South West's finest gardens in a wood. And "Wow" - it is just that ! Everywhere you turn are magnificent views, and hidden areas of trees and plants. The house too is very worthy of mention and visit. Our first time here & this is with out a doubt,... More
