Another wonderful National Trust property giving us a chance to look back on how the more privileged lived yesteryear.

You could easily spend a few hours wandering around the house and extensive gardens. Being owned by National Trust everything is run very well and efficiently. The house itself if well worth a visit just for its painted ceilings and walls by Burges and Crace. On the day of our visit the children were occupied with finding snails which were... More

Very interesting property and it's history. Volunteers were excellent and keen to disseminate information. Gardens were excellent as was the kitchen garden.

2 adults and 14 yr old boy on Tuesday morning. William Burges was commissioned to design and build Knightshayes (he did the bell tower at the Houses of Parliment in London) but Sir John Heathcoat-Amory didn't like the design and sacked him. The result is a toned-down version Burges' original vision. It's a gothic revival house with impressive interiors. We're... More

We enjoyed Knightshayes court very much. The house is beautiful and well maintained. The information you get about the house 's history you get with a video is excellent. The gardens are simply stunning. A place to return to.

After a disappointing experience at another NT property recently (see my review at http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g4114907-d2076470-r291707872-Tyntesfield-Wraxall_Somerset_England.html#REVIEWS), I am pleased to report a great day out at Knightshayes. The property had been highly recommended to me and it matched up to expectations. Arriving at 10:15, we first visited the walled 'kitchen garden' which was fantastic, with many interesting flowers and ornamentals, as well... More

As National Trust members we went along for our first visit only to find Soup Stock (every Sunday in August) was taking place, an afternoon of free music from local and tribute bands ~ it was wonderful so much so we returned the following weekend with friends. The house is very interesting to look around, the grounds beautiful and the... More

Gardens were wonderful especially the Kitchen Garden. Plenty to keep the children interested with trails to follow and more. Lunch was good too. Now to the house - - with a sleeping baby in a pushchair we could not get past the entrance hall . Leave the buggy downstairs and carry a heavy sleeping baby, coats and bags? - or... More
