The house is very imposing and impressive. Not as lovely looking as many of the NT houses but as is the case with most of them superbly restored with an interesting history. The stand out features of this property has to be the gardens. The walled kitchen garden is stunning, beautifully tended and hugely productive. A jewel in the crown... More

I live locally but had never visited knighthayes before I got my dog. Now I've discovered this little treasure I frequently take him for walks here. Lovely grounds, forest and house! Well worth the trip

I came to Knightshayes with my whole family and there was something for everyone. The gardens are outstandingly beautiful and the house is amazing. A great day out for all from my 73yo mother to my 3yo granddaughter and everyone In between. The staff were brilliant, informative and very helpful. Costs £9 an adult and £4.50 a child without gift... More

Beautiful gardens, fantastic trees and the most wonderful house. We particularly enjoyed walking around the house, especially as it wasn't too busy. The home of the Heathcote-Amerys it has the most wonderful furniture, especially in the smoking room - the clock is just out of this world. The restoration of the amazing house is perfect. The Conservatory cafe is just... More

Very interesting place to visit. Gothic house, spectacular interior. Able to spend as much time as you wish in each room. Lots of National Trust volunteersaround to give information and answer questions. Beautiful grounds, formal garden, walled kitchen garden and sprawling woods etc to wander around. Can highly recommend the cake from the restaurant.

We had the greatest time here with our 23 month old. The room guides we great and helped us entertain our daughter by pointing out animals and even helped with finding something that looked like a bear for us and pointing out the cat and mice. It was really quite when we went so that gave us time in each... More

If you get a chance to go in May, do so, because the azalea display is wonderful! The kitchen garden is also a must see, and after all that there is the house itself. Unfortunately the upstairs was closed due to volunteer shortages, but there is plenty of interest working out how the Heathcote- Amory dynasty came together in Devon

This was the first time we had visited Knightshayes, but it will certainly not be the last. Picked a beautiful sunny day, so was able to wander around the wonderful gardens and admire them at their best. The house was different but very interesting, amazing library room, wonderful selection of old books. Very nice café, serving lovely coffee and delicious... More
