The kitchen garden is particularly great while the house is very engaging. A very good restored manor house and extremely pleasant gardens and grounds. Would certainly return.

We were lucky to visit on a fine day so spent the whole day in the gardens. Although it was very busy as with so many sites a short walk soon gets you away from the crowds. The gardens and "formal" woodlands are a joy and the walled garden superb. A must visit venue. Be warned that the car park... More

If you got to this house it's all about the designer William Burgess and his strange ways he decorated houses during his career

Arrived at KH 9.30am today, confronted by lots of motorbikes queing to get in. There were NO SIGNS warning us of this event, nothing in the NT magazine either. When we tried to leave several of the cyclists refused to let us pass, these were obviously the more aggressive ones as, they took no notice of a helper who was... More

We took friend to Knighshayes today as we had been recommended it by local people and we are staying in the area. We looked around the house which was fascinating but as we went to view the gardens the heavens opened. We stopped for tea in the cafe in the hope the rain would pass but it continued to rain... I’m sorry to hear that your recent visit to Knightshayes was a disappointment to you. As a charity, we received no government funding, so we rely almost entirely on the income generated through our enterprises activity (admissions, membership, catering and retail) to help fund the vital conservation work we do. As such, we are unable to offer the opportunity to... More

We visited on a rainy day so were not able to walk a lot in the grounds The house was very interesting as it exhibited the work of some prominent victorian architects and the fact that the family had enough funds to change the design when it was completed. The house is quite small but beautifully maintained with views over... More

Knightshayes is part of the National Trust organisation. The gardens are magnificent, immaculate, manicured and the topiaries excellent. The walled Victorian vegetable garden is not to be missed. There is a tea room in a green house and a very well stocked restaurant next to the shop off the courtyard. Good, clean food. A generally very well run attraction and... More

Not only is the house great, the location is beautiful and the walled garden is one of the best I have visited. All of it is really well maintained and as per usual the staff on hand to answers questions and impart their knowledge were great. Just enough information/history to keep us interested, without becoming bogged down. Shop and cafe... More

We first visited Knightshayes several years ago but on that trip the house was not open to visitors so we had to content ourselves with visiting the (admittedly impressive) gardens and grounds. We had promised ourselves to return one day to do the job properly and finally managed to do this last week. Happily we had picked a lovely sunny... More

Called whilst passing and glad we did - the gardens & woods are absolutely gorgeous; amazing variety of trees. We didn't have time for the house so we returned on the way back home. this is also worth a visit - very unusual interior, not over-big so you won't be overwhelmed. Don't bother walking down to the pond, but have... More
