We took friend to Knighshayes today as we had been recommended it by local people and we are staying in the area. We looked around the house which was fascinating but as we went to view the gardens the heavens opened. We stopped for tea in the cafe in the hope the rain would pass but it continued to rain... I’m sorry to hear that your recent visit to Knightshayes was a disappointment to you. As a charity, we received no government funding, so we rely almost entirely on the income generated through our enterprises activity (admissions, membership, catering and retail) to help fund the vital conservation work we do. As such, we are unable to offer the opportunity to... More

We visited on a rainy day so were not able to walk a lot in the grounds The house was very interesting as it exhibited the work of some prominent victorian architects and the fact that the family had enough funds to change the design when it was completed. The house is quite small but beautifully maintained with views over... More

Knightshayes is part of the National Trust organisation. The gardens are magnificent, immaculate, manicured and the topiaries excellent. The walled Victorian vegetable garden is not to be missed. There is a tea room in a green house and a very well stocked restaurant next to the shop off the courtyard. Good, clean food. A generally very well run attraction and... More

Not only is the house great, the location is beautiful and the walled garden is one of the best I have visited. All of it is really well maintained and as per usual the staff on hand to answers questions and impart their knowledge were great. Just enough information/history to keep us interested, without becoming bogged down. Shop and cafe... More

We first visited Knightshayes several years ago but on that trip the house was not open to visitors so we had to content ourselves with visiting the (admittedly impressive) gardens and grounds. We had promised ourselves to return one day to do the job properly and finally managed to do this last week. Happily we had picked a lovely sunny... More

Called whilst passing and glad we did - the gardens & woods are absolutely gorgeous; amazing variety of trees. We didn't have time for the house so we returned on the way back home. this is also worth a visit - very unusual interior, not over-big so you won't be overwhelmed. Don't bother walking down to the pond, but have... More

We had beautiful weather when we visited Knightshayes which allowed us to really appreciate the views and the gardens. The kitchen garden is very impressive and the formal gardens are beautiful. There are also walks you can do around the estate to really make the most of your day. The house itself is very interesting with lots of relevant information... More

Whilst on holiday in Somerset we visited Knighthayes for the morning. We had been before but only as a stopover for a coffee during November last year. So it was lovely to be able to stroll through the grounds and gardens and even buy a poetry anthology in the secondhand bookshop. The house was very interesting and remember to take... More

What a lovely place to visit. This was a fascinating place to visit, the building is lovely and has loads of walks around the gardens and woods. There are 2 tea rooms which both are lovely and offer the usual National Trust tea rooms. It has a lot of history about it and there are areas that are being restored,... More

It wasn't the best day for weather, but the gardens looked lovely. The views are great too. Did the tour of the house, all well-kept and very interesting. Had to take refuge from the rain in the tea-room where they have a great range to choose from. I would definitely try a return visit sometime when hopefully the weather was... More
