Nice easy ride

We recently road this trail whilst in Oakehampton. It's a lovely easy ride with fantastic views, suitable for any ability.

A flat walk, or cycle,, with outstanding views across Devon. Easy for those walkers who haven't walked for a while. Some nice pubs along the way to stop for lunch.

We started at Okehampton and cycled down to Lake viaduct and back which gave an 11 mile round trip. The surface is paved which makes for fairly easy cycling and although some gentle uphill at start nothing too strenuous. As we got nearer to Lake viaduct the scenery opened out and became more remote so I suspect the lower part... More

Living in Okehampton, we often walk on this path, and very much recommend it to visitors. We have now completed the entire route, and have enjoyed some beautiful scenery along the way. Glorious in all seasons because of the changing foliage .

Parking at Okehampton is free but there are no toilets there. I struggled a little on the outbound route and only realised on my way back that there is a very slight incline hence the struggle. I was attracted by the sign by Sourton church which said I was only 3 mins from a very unusual pub - The Highwayman.... More

We picked up the Granite way as part of the Devon Coast to Coast cycle route. After a brief stop to refuel on chips we headed up the stiff climb to Okehampton station, to pick up the (GW) Lots of this section is old railway line, you cross several footpath and road junctions, all of which are well indicated with... This Granite Way is very nice for a ride or walk. The 8 ish miles are good surface and well worth going to. Pity no coffee at Lydford one of the start points the other Oakhampyon station. A drink is available at Devon Cyles about half way.

Writing this having been along this today. We often walk/ride this as a family and during school time, my wife and l love to get up there when we can. Loads of places for picnics along the way and the scenery is just gorgeous. Other people using the trail always seem to be friendly and having as good a time... More

Walk the granite way, this can be accessed in many different places so if you want to do the different walks try entering from Sourton Church and walking to the viaduct. For a longer walk try leaving from Lydford and walking through to Okehampton with beautiful views of the various Tors. You can also cycle or horse ride this route.
