The Granite Way is one of my favorite rides, gentle riding on good surface with stunning scenery. I have done this ride a few times, starting off at the Lydford carpark, ride up the road to the start of the trail at the railway bridge. You're then on the trail, with completely safe riding, except a road crossing by Bridestow... More

This is a great cycle path for the family, safe and very easy going, not many hills and a great place to relax on a very enjoyable journey.

We got on at Lydford and picked up the trail (by cycling back out the village until a sign post onto a track on your left), as this did cause some confusion. Nice flat trail going to oakhampton. You could go off the trail and add on an extra loop to the village Bridestowe. Going we kept to the trail... More

The granite way is a very safe cycle track away from the road. It is great fun for families even with small children. There is an excellent bike hire company just off the A30 on the Plymouth road. They offer parking and refreshments along with an excellent range of bikes to suit all abilities. I hadn't cycled for over 20... More

I used a large part of the Granite Way as part of a much longer bike ride from Exeter and around Dartmoor. As a road cyclist who likes to go fairly fast on skinny tyres I'm always slightly doubtful about Sustrans and leisure routes but this was OK. I wouldn't like to do it on a wet day - the... More

What a great day out.Free parking at okehampton station and a well signposted fairly level and well surfaced route for cycling or walking..We also took in the National Trust Lydford Gorge waterfall walk at the end of the cycle route.I would not recommend taking a dog along the gorge walk as the path is narrow, slippy and close to deep water... This is the perfect place for dog walking, cycling or hiring out their Tramper and exploring the Devon scenery. 18 miles of almost level tarmac pathway between Okehampton and Lydford. Following the path towards Okehampton you will cross the famous Meldon Viaduct as you approach the old Meldon Quarry where there is a Tea-room and buffet inside some refurbished carriages.... More

We hired our cycles from Devon Cycle Hire halfway along the Granite Way, very friendly and told us all the best places to stop etc. Really pleasant and easy cycle ride as it is mainly on the flat - the only big hill is when you get to Lydford (the last stop) - if you feel up to it then... More

Such a well maintained cycle route , totally enjoyed it, not as hard as we thought, hills tough but not outrageous.
