We are a small, friendly and very different visit for all the family. Run by a small dedicated team we aim to make your visit educational and fun. You can enjoy and learn about our tropical butterflies in the specially designed habitat of which you become part. You not only see the butterflies but feel the rainforest atmosphere that they enjoy as you see their amazing life cycle unfold. In the Otter Sanctuary there are three species of otter to see, our native British otter, the playful Asian short clawed otters and the large North American river otters who love to show off. Our keeper is on hand to explain all about the otters to visitors, some are here for breeding, some for retirement, some just for fun and some because they are unsuitable to be returned to the wild.Make sure to bring your camera.

What a wonderful place, admission is for all day. go back as many times as you like. Good food at the station next door, Small souvenir shop but the otters are definitely the main attraction. Large, suitable wild enclosures, deep water and some very happy otters. They have some breeding pairs, rescued ones and pensioners. You need to hit one... More

Happened upon this place purely by chance on our way back from Plymouth to London and we really liked it. the staff were enthusiastic and informative, the vast and diverse butterflies and moths were wondrous. Certainly worth a visit if nature and conservation is your thing

Me and my partner took our first trip to Otters and Butterflies today and we will definitely be paying a visit again! As you walk through the entrance you are greeted by an array of beautiful butterflies happily zooming around the beautiful inclosure and lovely little seating areas to sit and admire the view. Then there are the otters who... More

Quite the best Nature related experience I've had for a while. The Butterfly Farm is quite fascinating with Butterflies zooming around the place. They settle on you or around you making it easy to see them close up and in detail and the species are all the exotic kind. As the farm is climate controlled to by tropical it is... More

Having purchased a multi attraction ticket, I was not disappointed with these venues. The staff were pleasant. It was nice to walk around with the butterflies floating past you.A few more varieties would have been a bonus as the climate is perfect for more exotic breeds. The otters were fun to watch. Worth a visit

If you have a little time whilst in Devon then this is well worth a visit. The Butterfly farm and Otter sanctuary were the reasons for our visit, but there is also a charming little railway, with an old style station, I believe steam trains figure somewhere but railways aren't really my thing I'm afraid, each to their own though..... Enthusiastic and informative staff make for an enjoyable couple of hours. Some beautiful butterflies but not as many different varieties as we were hoping for. The otters at feeding time are an absolute must. Tim is passionate about them and doing a great job.

We were bowled over by the knowledge, skill, expertise and devotion of the otter keeper. A must if you are in the area. They rely on donations and visits to fund the rescue and release of otters.

This place is totally worth every penny of your entrance fee. The only thing i'd say is to definitely watch one of the feeding times as it was very informative and entertaining. Their keeper Tim was very friendly and does an amazing job. But he needs a microphone! If you have half a day spare then do pay a visit!
