We found this a very impressive castle and a wonderful half-day excursion from St. Helier, well worth the entrance fee. The excellent guided tour (included in price) took us to the top of the castle highlighting the points of interest which we then explored in more detail on the way back down. The view from the top, even on a... More

Located near Gorey on Jersey The Castle was built when bows and arrows were used, and became obsolete because of its location. the hill behind it is higher and would provide a great position for any artillery to pound the Castle. However, the castle continued to be used right up to WW2. A very interesting castle in many ways. The... More

We stayed in the Moorings Hotel which is below the castle. Had not visited for years, forgot how interesting it was. The stunning views and history of the Castle made for a perfect day.

Not the best place to visit in the winter, but that was only because of the weather. The castle itself is well worth a visit. Plenty of information is available in signs, videos, etc. and much of the basic structure of the castle has been restored so there are many different rooms and outdoor spaces to explore. Not open on... More

This is what you'd term a "proper" castle; it's really all there, not one of these "castles" that's effectively just a bit of remaining wall. It's so easy to while away an afternoon here, the castle is set in beautiful grounds with great views over Gorey and Jersey's coast. There are plenty of small eateries in Gorey too for a... More

We took the No. 1 bus from St. helier which was delightful. The castle dominates the skyline and invites a visit. You do however need to be relatively fit. Lots of steep inclines and steps. However well worth it. Lots of quirky nooks and crannies with a great variety of exhibits. The knight on his horse statue is brilliant. My... More

Visited here and looked up the the castle from the beach. Dry , beautiful, windy day spent skimming stones with my son. The castle is magnificent to look at from below.

Very interesting and well maintained. Great views from the roof. Can spend a good couple of hours here. Not cheap though, £11.70 for an adult or £33 for a family will put many off. Whilst I agree that the money goes the maintaining the castle, I suspect this makes a lot of profit too. Open in winter unlike most attractions... More

Great experience seeing this Jersey attraction. Will need at least 2 hours to take all in. Think the price of 11.50 per adult is steep.
