Cant say we actually visited, as it`s a private estate? But the view of the castle overlooking Mullaghmore bay is always awe-inspiring and beautiful, especially when one remembers the recent (ish) history associated with it.

I think it should be open to the public because it's just ashame to look at it abandoned even if it is private. It feels like its leaving behind an extrodinary history of Mountbatten. It would be good for us and the new generation to capture its beauty inside! I would be over the moon if it opened for the... More

You can see Classiebawn Castle appear on the horizon as you motor or cycle down into Mullaghmore. Really impressive. We did not know the castle's history when we saw it first and were quite taken with it, wondering who lived there. Classiebawn is the former summer home of Lord Mountbatten. Unfortunately the house is not open to the public, something... More

Should not be on this website as it is 1 km from any public access and is a private house that can not be visited. It is an attractive distant feature of the local landscape and was the home of Lord Mountbatten.

Yeats 'under bare Ben Bulbins head' etc. with a view of innishmurray the enchanted isle. you cannot fail to be moved by nature's unspoiled beauty as you watch the sun set on mullaghmore... More

When our family visited the area the weather was very mixed but I found the views were just outstanding. The head of Mullaghmore give you many different views of the castle and the small village that comes with it is a bonus. It was a pity that the grounds we private but the experience of taking in the surrounding beauty... More

You can see Classiebawn Castle for miles as it's situated in one of the most beautiful locations you can find. Once the home of The Earl Mountbatten of Burma this historic castle is not open to the public but it graces the landscape near beautiful and picturesque Mullaghmore 15 miles or thereabouts from Sligo
